Lamar to announce football coach Monday

— Navarro coach Ray Woodard is expected to be named Lamar University’s ninth football coach on Monday.
Lamar athletic officials announced in a press release that a press conference will be held Monday at 2 p.m. to announce the hiring of the program’s eighth football coach since 1951 and the first since the program was discontinued in 1989.
The release gave no details on who the coach would be, but according to the Beaumont Enterprise, Woodard is the top candidate for the job.
Under Woodard, the Bulldogs went 9-3 in his first season and won the SWJCFC Championship and finished fourth in the final NJCAA poll.
