Whitten 50th Anniversary

Don and Jean Whitten celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 6, 2009. They were married in Blooming Grove on June 5, 1959.

Don Whitten is a former employee of Chattanooga Glass Company and is currently retired from Tejas Warehouse in Corsicana. Jean is semi-retired after 34 years of service at Carl White Autoplex in Corsicana.

They were honored with a reception at First Baptist Church of Dawson Fellowship Hall given by their children and spouses, Dennis and Anita Whitten of Purdon and Doug and Jennifer Whitten of Purdon; grandchildren, Kelsey, Ethan and Rebekah; and their many nieces, nephews and friends. Many friends and relatives joined to honor the couple at the reception enjoying a barbecue brisket dinner with all the fixings and dessert. They enjoyed 1950s style music and a slide show of their last 50 years together. The couple wishes to express their thanks to all of the participants who made the reception such a wonderful and memorable event.
