Smith 50th Anniversary

Johnny and Beverly Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 27, 2009.

They were married June 27, 1959, at the home of Beverly’s aunt Erma Rockett of Red Oak. The small town of Rockett in Ellis County was named after Beverly’s great-grandfather.

The couple has two children, Kimberly Ann Smith of Irving and Matthew Scott Smith of Corsicana.

Beverly, a homemaker, formerly substituted teaching in the Lancaster Independent School District. Johnny retired in 1997 after 35 years with The Dallas Morning News.

They both made their retirement home in Corsicana, moving here in 1985.
