Evans Anniversary

On July 8, 2009, Harold Francis Evans and Angeline (Lankford) Evans celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. They were married by the late Dr. W.W. Phares in a beautiful wedding at South Dallas Christian Church.

They met while they were in high school when she was 15 and he was a couple of years older. They went together for a little over four years until their marriage. They made their home in Dallas where they worked for many years before moving to Corsicana in 1978.

Angeline started working for Neiman-Marcus downtown in the fall of 1935 and worked there for 32 years with the last 20 years as supervisor for the Ladies Alterations Department. Harold was bitten by the old “printers’ bug” at Superior Typesetting Company. Later he learned to be a Linotype operator at Jaggars-Chiles-Stovall Typesetting Plant in Dallas. After 12 years there he “slugged up” at The Dallas Morning News for the last 28 years of his working life, retiring on Dec. 31, 1976.

The day after Angeline retired from Neiman-Marcus they moved to Corsicana, where they have lived for the last 31 years. During these retirement years, Angeline has enjoyed dressing bears and dolls for The Salvation Army, and making hats and pillows for the American Cancer Society. Harold has enjoyed painting, playing the organ and writing poetry. At this date he has written over 750 poems, made numerous talks at various service clubs in Corsicana, and published his first book which has sold on three continents.

They have two children, Daniel Harold Evans of Allen and Dannell (Evans) Woodcock of Corsicana, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren with great-great twins on the way.

Harold and Angeline know that they have had a very blessed life and hope to have more happy and loving days in years to come.
