Morgan 50th Anniversary

On July 15, 1958 Wayne and Marlene Morgan were married in the Emhouse Baptist Church. Marlene’s parents were Elizabeth and Marvin Shows and Wayne’s parents were Onita and Mark Morgan, all residents of Emhouse. Marlene Shows was a graduate of Emhouse High School and she was attending Navarro College. She was a Senorita representing Navarro College at various functions. Wayne Morgan was a graduate of Emhouse High School and was attending University of Texas at Arlington majoring in electrical engineering. Wayne soon went to work for TU Electric and the young family started moving around Texas for that company. Marlene cared for and nurtured her family and others, has been and continues to be an active volunteer of many organizations.

The Morgans were able to move back to Corsicana after 10 years settling on the family farm which had been in the family since 1872. Wayne continued to work for TU Electric retiring after 35 years of service. As lifelong members of the United Methodist Church they are active in the church and they live a service-oriented life as they continue to travel and contribute to the community in their various volunteer roles.

Wayne was named the Outstanding Older Texan of the year for Navarro County in 2005 and continues to support the Emhouse Community, FUMC, and the Emhouse reunions. Marlene supports many organizations such as Navarro County Extension Service, Heritage Oaks, and FUMC United Methodist Women. She is a member of the Navarro County Extension Volunteer Hall of Fame.

The focus of their life continues to be on loving their family and grandchildren. Their family includes their children; Karen and Kerry Vandiver of Ennis, Donna and Matt Jackson, and Steve and Tiffany Morgan of Emhouse. Their grandchildren include Courtney, Chase and Chelsea Vandiver of Ennis, Brittney and Parker Jackson, and Jared, Sean and Austin Morgan of Emhouse.

Their family honors them for their generosity and many accomplishments with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. July 19 at the First United Methodist Church of Corsicana. Our hope is they continue to have many more beautiful years together. All family and friends are invited to help celebrate their 50th Anniversary.
