Leon and Carolyn Allard celebrated July 22, 2011 as their 50th wedding anniversary, with a celebratory dinner at The Reata Restaurant in Ft. Worth. They were joined for the celebration by their son Brad Allard, his wife Robin, and two grandchildren Hayden and Sarah of Burleson, and daughter Amy Green, husband Michael, and two grandchildren Taylor and Ava of Mansfield.
Leon, originally from Hobart, Okla. and Carolyn, a native Dallasite, met in Abilene while attending Hardin Simmons University. They were married at the home of the bride’s parents, Jack and Pauline Brumley, in Dallas.
After their wedding on July 22, 1961 the newlyweds moved to Fort Bragg, North Carolina to fulfill Leon’s military commitments. While at Fort Bragg, they had a son, Bradley Wayne, June 27, 1962. The family returned to Texas in 1963, where Leon began to pursue his career in accounting and financial management. They had their second child, a daughter named Amy Louise, July 16, 1965.
Leon began a 25-year commitment with Gifford Hill in early 1966, eventually being promoted to Chief Financial Officer. Carolyn received her degree in nursing in 1978 from Texas Women’s University in Denton and worked as a registered nurse at Plano General Hospital. Through Leon’s financial expertise, both children were able to attend Baylor University in Waco and earn their Bachelor’s degrees there.
After Leon’s retirement from Gifford Hill, the Allards moved to Ennis to be closer to Carolyn’s parents. Leon worked with the Navarro County Chamber of Commerce in the area of small business counseling for eight years. The Allards moved to their current home in Corsicana in early 2000.
They are active members of Northside Baptist Church in Corsicana, and enjoy traveling in their RV.
All of their achievements were made possible through the love they have shared with each other, their family and friends. This example of true love and a happy marriage has been invaluable to all who have known them. As stated in Proverbs 21:21: He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.

Charles Reynolds and Dot (Dorothy Overton) met just after he completed his four-year stint in the U.S. Navy, and they were married Aug. 23, 1963, by the Rev. Jimmy Blankenship in Austin. They moved to the Mildred area in 1972.

Billy Wayne Graves and Brenda Alexander were married at First Baptist Church, Corsicana on Aug. 1, 1963. Both were born in Navarro county, and have lived in Corsicana and Roane all their married life.
