Dawson Lions Club

Dawson Lions Club met at noon June 25 at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Dawson. The special guest was John Hopkins, District 2-3X governor, who gave a timely and humorous speech and installed the club officers for 2008-2009. Dawson Lions Club officers for 2008-2009 are: Jo Maxwell, president; Sandra Pechacek, first vice president; Bill Baldwin, second vice president; Kenn Maxwell, third vice president; Bill Ryan, secretary/treasurer; Jim Meredith, tail twister; George and Ruby Faucett, Lion tamers; and Ray Woods, board of directors member.



Woman’s Club House Association

Hostesses for the Aug. 4 luncheon program at Kinsloe House are members of the program/yearbook committee for 2008-2009 which consists of chairman Lynda Green and members Cecelia Alexander, Marianne Anderson, Marsha Banks, Martha Grove, Hanna McCleary, Nancy Philo, Arlene Stewart and Charlotte Van Buskirk. They will kick off with an update from Lee McCleary titled “Looking into the Crystal Ball for Navarro County.”

McCleary is the economic development director for Corsicana and Navarro County. He has been busy lately with queries about the power plant issue, but he also has other information about the future of economic development in the area. He was the economic development director in Ennis for seven years prior to taking this position in Corsicana. He graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a B.S. degree in business and an M.B.A. degree in marketing. He is also well known for helping many students from this area in their tennis career. His wife Hanna, a new member of Kinsloe House, will be joining him for the luncheon and will be welcomed by Kinsloe members.

Members are urged to make reservations for this program luncheon by calling Kinsloe House at (903) 874-5791 no later than noon Aug. 4. Please note that Kinsloe House yearbooks will be available to be picked up at this luncheon. If unable to attend, they will be available during regular hours after Aug. 6.
