Navarro County Reach to Recovery will have a breast cancer health fair from 9 a.m. to noon in Classroom 2 of Navarro Regional Hospital. This will be the last health fair for 2008. If you are a breast cancer patient, you are encouraged to attend and receive vital information. Reach to Recovery, a service offered free of charge and a division of the American Cancer Society, offers support by breast cancer survivors, literature, temporary breast prosthesis, wigs, and other support. Rice 4-H will have a rabies clinic fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to noon at First State Bank in Rice and from 1 to 3 p.m. at Chatfield United Methodist Church. St. Elmo Cemetery Association will have its annual memorial service and homecoming. Services begin at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church followed by lunch on the cemetery grounds. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. VOICE will offer the Texas Youth Tobacco Awareness Program, a state-approved program for minors charged with attempted purchase, consumption, or possession of tobacco and is designed to the mandates of Texas law. VOICE staff is certified to facilitate this program. The class will be an eight-hour program divided into four two-hour sessions. There will be a choice of morning or afternoon sessions — from 9 to 11 a.m. or from 3 to 5 p.m. July 15, 17, 22 and 24. Classes are $80 (cash only) for all sessions. A benefit for Bruce Holman will be held beginning at 5 p.m. at Frost City Park. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, silent and live auction, live music featuring JJ Bratcher. Holman, a former resident of Frost and son of William and Linda Meskiman, was severely injured in an accident April 26. He will have many months of physical therapy. You are invited to come support Holman and his family. Also, a bank account has been established for donations at Community National Bank and Trust. Donations may be made to “Frost Volunteer Fire Department for Bruce Holman” at the Frost, Streetman and Fairfield bank locations, or at either of the two Corsicana locations.

Collin St. Tips received will go toward incentives for students at the CRTC. Funds raised can be used for graduation gifts, birthday cakes, small gifts, travel funds for family members, and various other things that the state does not pay for. You are invited to come support the resource council in this fund-raising endeavor.



Black Hills Cemetery Association will have its annual fund-raiser at Retreat Community Building, located on Farm-to-Market Road 709. The event will start at 1 p.m. there will be alight lunch served at a cost of $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 8. Warehouse Living Arts Center’s Corsicana Children’s Company’s ninth annual theatre camp will be held. “Act and Seek” for kindergarten through second grade will meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at a cost of $55. “Imagination Station” for third through fifth grades will meet from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at a cost of $58.50. Students will need a sack lunch. “Innovative Imagineers” for sixth through eighth grades and from ninth to 12th grades will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. at a cost of $65. Cost for each class will include a T-shirt and a snack. Season-ticket holders and multiple family registrations will get a 10-percent discount.
