Teetz receives degree
Carrie Anne Kent Teetz received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine on May 8 in College Station.
While in veterinary school, Teetz served as an officer for the student chapter of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and as the event coordinator/fund-raising chairman for the class of 2008 council. She was active in the student chapters of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Association of Swine Veterinarians, and the Society for Theriogenology. Teetz also chaired the large animal clinic at open house and interned at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with the veterinarian committee each year.
Teetz is the wife of Todd Teetz, formerly of Corsicana, and the daughter of Dan and Gloria Kent of Powell. She is the granddaughter of Johnny and Margaret McClure of Corsicana and Charles and the late Vesta Grace Kent of Powell.
Green receives degree
Timothy Green received his Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Tarleton State University on May 10. Green is currently working for Earnest Walker Realty Inc. as a real estate agent. He plans to continue to work at Walker Realty and keep the tradition going as he is the third generation to work at this family-owned company. Green is the son of Denna and Jeff Smith and Steve Green Sr. He is the grandson of Jo and Earnest Walker and the late Gloria and Collin Green.
Barroso receives degree
Martiniano “Martine” Barroso of Corsicana received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree on May 10 from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. Barroso, a 2003 graduate of Corsicana High School, is the son of Jewell Barroso and Guillermo Barroso, both of Corsicana, and grandson of Irene Dunklau of Corsicana.
Harrison named to honor roll
Amber Nicole Harrison of Corsicana was named to the president’s honor roll at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. To make the president’s honor roll, a student must complete a semester schedule of least 12 hours with no grade lower than a 4.0.
Thompson named to dean’s list
Having completed spring 2008 classes with at least a 3.4 GPA, Courtney Thompson of Corsicana was recently named to the dean’s list at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
Students named to dean’s list
Texas State University-San Marcos has announced the students named to the dean’s list for the spring 2008 semester. Included were Jillian M. Penque and Daniel A. Neal, both of Corsicana, and Chancen C. Elliott of Streetman.
Balcom receives degree
Jake Balcom graduated from Texas Tech University on May 9. He earned both a bachelor and master degree in environmental engineering. Balcom joined TCB-AECOM, an engineering design firm in Austin. He is the son of Ned and Tommie Balcom of Corsicana.
Gandhi named to dean’s list
Corsicana resident Rajshi Navnit Gandhi was named to the 2008 spring dean’s list at Southwestern University. To be selected, students must have at least a 3.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale with at least 12 graded hours and be in good standing with the university.
Students receive degrees
Corsicana residents Tracey Bruce Abel and Kristy Grace Goodnight received degrees from Dallas Baptist University at spring commencement.
Abel, the wife of Eddie Abel and mother to Richard and Ryan, graduated with a Master of Liberal Arts degree.
Goodnight graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree. She is married to John Goodnight, is mother to Luke, Kathryn, Paul, Daniel, Joshua, Caleb, Juliana and Josiah, and the daughter of Gary and Kathi McMullan.
Military news
Staff Sgt. Terry Boss, right, with the 2-69th Armored Division of Fort Benning, Ga., secures an area of Baghdad, Iraq, after a bombing in a marketplace. Boss, a graduate of Blooming Grove High School, has been with the Army for 18 years. He is the son of Sandy and Jerry Lemler of Blooming Grove and is married and has three children. Army National Guard Pvt. Justin Macias has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. Macias, a 2007 graduate of Blooming Grove High School, is the son of Alma Macias of Barry.
