Reunions

G.W. Carver High School reunion

The alumni of the ex-G.W. Carver High School, Dawson, held the 27th annual reunion July 25-27 at St. James Methodist Church, Hopewell Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Dawson.

The memorial service was 7 p.m. July 25 at First Baptist Fellowship Hall. Featured selections were the youth choir from House of Refuge Church of God in Christ of Dawson, praise dance and skit from Love Chapel Baptist Church of Corsicana, Billy/Ocie Henry Group from Corsicana, and Faith Gospel Singers from Freedom Fellowship Church in Corsicana. The speaker was Minister Allen Campbell of Thirteenth Avenue Christian Church of Corsicana. Campbell is a 1964 graduate of Carver school and vice president of the reunion.

Also featured on July 25 was the baby contest. The winner for the 3 to 5 age group was Trinity Reign Gardner, who was born June 29, 2005. She is the daughter of Andre and Patrice Gardner, has a big sister Shiloh Zion, and is the granddaughter of Howard and Annie Lusk. Trinity loves to read, sing, swim, tumble and dance. She will enter pre-kindergarten three in the fall.

Words of inspiration were by Minister M. Babers, Hugh Collins and Glenn Cottrell. Decorations were by Bobbie Sample of Hutchins and Allen and Bethana Campbell were caterers. Graduates from 1957 and 1958 were awarded 50-year certificates.
