Letters to the Editor 7/20/08

Grateful for care

To the Editor: My mother was admitted to Navarro Regional on Sunday, June 29, until her death on Saturday, July 5. During her hospitalization she was given the most compassionate and professional care by the ER staff and the second floor staff. They were a comfort to our family and made this difficult time less painful by giving her quality care and by their consideration for our family. Their gentleness and dignity in caring for her was very touching. They saw to it that those of us gathered around her were informed and cared for, also.

Thank you Navarro Regional and a big thanks to Dr. Kent Rogers.

About those streets ...

To the Editor: I would like to know why the railroad can fix their track crossings but don’t do anything about our road they left in a mess. It’s bad enough that our streets are the worst in Texas compared to any other town, but can’t the city do anything to make the railroad repair the street crossing? It is terrible trying to go across the tracks on the uneven surface they left behind. I think they should have to make a smooth surface for drivers to cross after they come in and do repairs. As high as our taxes are here we should have nice streets all over town instead of worn out-of-date brick streets and you can’t even drive anywhere for all the pot holes. But the railroad should have to repair the crossings to where they are smooth and you won’t bottom out when crossing.

In time of loss

To the Editor: It is difficult to put into words the appreciation of the Burkhart family for the heartfelt coverage you gave the death of Dr. Kelly Paul Burkhart. Our hearts have been warmed and comforted by your kind words.

I have been so touched by the loving care Kelly received from his caregivers. Patricia Gardner and her helpers, Vergie and Bryant, were so attentive, caring and yet professional. I shall always be grateful for them and their ministry.

Being back in my hometown among friends from years ago was heartwarming and comforting. The support of family, friends, and the church fellowship makes it possible to get through such troubled times.

My sincere thanks,

Dorothy Burkhart Peacock

More thanks to share

To the Editor: I want to add to the sponsors for the golf gala 2008: Haynie Drilling Company and Navarro County Times. There was an oversight, and no sponsor will be left out. I really appreciate them helping us for the Boys and Girls Club.
