Where is the true Christian ?
To the Editor: My ears hear no sound. My eyes see only shadows. My heart is sick.
What am I saying? Here in this only great Christian nation, we are backing down from the fight to stand our ground for our faith in Jesus Christ.
We give in without a struggle. We slink away even without an argument as if this is what the Lord would want us to do.
Years ago, we complained that Christmas had become only about the money. Now, we have lost what the season is really about.
We hide behind “freedom of religion” but the truth is, people of other religions fled their country to this country, where Christians allow freedom of religion.
At first, our nation spread the Good News at home and abroad. Missionaries dedicated and gave their lives for the sole purpose that others would hear about Jesus Christ.
But now we will not even stand up and be counted, for fear of a few threats, and a few attorneys’ fighting against Christ, a fight that is not really about us.
Christians around the world are enduring persecution, being put in jail, having their homes and churches burned down because of their faith. Thankfully, here in America, these things don’t happen, but people threaten court suits if we acknowledge our faith in public forums and in our school rooms.
Make no mistake — this too is persecution.
Let me remind you what Jesus warned us in Matthew 10:32 and 33 — “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in Heaven. But, whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in Heaven.”
I believe this warning includes the individual, and the nation as well.
Let’s stand together and put Christ back in Christmas and replace the “holiday” signs with “Christmas” signs.
