Corsicana — Fundraiser for the Daycare a huge success

To the Editor:

May we take this opportunity to say “THANKS” to the many generous citizens of Corsicana and Navarro County.  Our musical (fundraiser) for the Mary Peterson Daycare was a huge success.  Thanks to Joan Kilbourne for organizing the event and to each and all participants of the program.....we say “THANKS.”  We are so grateful.

Respectfully,

Joan Thompson, Director

Ida P. Reynolds, Board President

Board Members and Staff of the Mary Peterson Daycare Center

Communication

and Vision

Dear Sir:

These two things seem vital for the long range benefit of our community!

To me their lack has been dramatically pointed out currently:

1) Vision for our courthouse

2) Communication of scheduled events

A vision was expressed and fought for by Representative Byron Cook for saving our courthouse when he stood up and got funds set aside for preservation of that structure. Local vision seems lacking to plan for and follow his vision. What do we want to see, our county offices operating in buildings like the absurd one by the side of the railroad tracks on Seventh Ave. which houses a Mexican restaurant?

With regards to communication — How come we can’t use the community calendar as set up by the Chamber of Commerce so we don’t have so many events scheduled for community organizations and the populace? We are, after all, a small town and many people want to support many organizations.

An old saying is Lead, Follow, or get out of the way.

It seems appropriate to say, Lead, Follow, COMMUNICATE or get out of the way.

Respectfully,

Joe B. Brooks

Cyclist Heaven

To the Editor:

How hard will it be for Lance Armstrong to enter Cyclist Heaven? Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to thread the eye of a needle than for Lance Armstrong to enter Cyclist Heaven.
