Corsicana Daily Sun

— Grateful for support

To the Editor: The Emhouse Community Center had a Fundraiser Fish Fry on May 17 and we had great food, great workers and lots of talking and visiting with all our friends and neighbors who came to support our Community Center. We did not have as many come and support us as in the past. But we are thankful for the amount we collected and it will support us for a while.

Our president Jim and Carole furnished fish, oil, hushpuppies, fries and more! Thanks to Lucino for helping Jim fry the fish. We had workers by the dozen doing what was needed. Thanks also to Susanna, Virgie, Susie, Reta, Carole, Lavonne, Nancy, Dale, Robert, Danny, Margaret, Sue and if I missed your name, forgive me!

Thanks to the Daily Sun for advertising each day; also to the people that bought their lunch, cakes, pies, candy, etc. We had lots of take out plates to go, and kept Susanna busy. We thank you all!

Our monthly meeting is held the fourth Monday night at 7 p.m. Come join us. We have an informative meeting, with a report from a  Navarro County deputy, 4-H report, church activity, and all that is happening in the community. May 26 is our next meeting and we are to honor our veterans, since it is Memorial Day.

Thanks again and may God bless each one of you for helping us.

Sue Drain,

Vice President

Emhouse Community Center

Oakwood Odyssey a success

To the Editor: On May 10, 2014, the Navarro County Genealogy Society in partnership with the Genealogy Department of the Corsicana Public Library presented the “Oakwood Odyssey,” a walking “ghost” tour around nine graves of past residents of Navarro County who were of historic interest to our city and county.

We wish to thank Janet Jacobs and the Corsicana Daily Sun for the excellent coverage of this event as well as the many citizens of our community and other areas who supported this event. This advertisement brought about 300 supporters of our society and library to Oakwood Cemetery. The event drew spectators from Corsicana, other Navarro County cities, cities outside Navarro County, and even from other states.

We appreciate the support of the newspaper and the excellent support of the citizens of Corsicana. Again, thank you to all who made this, our first event of this type, a resounding success.

Appreciates care

To the Editor: I want to thank the staff of Country Meadows Nursing Center for the excellent care I received during the three and a half months I was there.

Everyone was cheerful and always willing to help whenever needed. The therapy is excellent.

Thank you,

Mary Dunagan
