Reminder to Americans
To the Editor: Let me begin by saying this is one man’s opinion — mine.
We grow every day with immigrants — some legal, some not. The question is, why do they come? Why do they leave their home? Some come for the opportunities, others for freedom, some to escape tyranny.
But all of them were aware that America was, and still is, predominantly a Christian nation — that is what shaped up and guided the framers of this blessed nation.
Our Constitution was something new that had never been tried before. It was called “the great experiment.” It was shaped and designed on and around the principles and concepts of Biblical moral standards, so much so that our second president, John Adams, said “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
All these generous freedoms and laws and regulations would depend on the citizens to follow their Christian values, thereby requiring few oversights. In short, Christians restrain themselves.
Finally, to all our “New Americans,” please remember and appreciate who we are. Regardless of what our president said, America is still a Christian nation.
