To the Editor:

Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance takes this opportunity to thank some very fine individuals of our community for such a wonderful, powerful and glorious experience during Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jan. 20, 2014 here in the city of Corsicana.

A special thanks goes to some very fine citizens here in Corsicana: Elder Valorie Horn for directing our city-wide mass choir; Minister Orlando Williams, Lucretia Brandon, and Patrick Gunnell assisting; Penny Liggins, committee member, for the wonderful occasion. A special thanks goes to one of the finest musicians in the city, Paul Lewis for the music rendered on Monday evening. Special thanks also to Pastor Cathy Douglas, the emcee, and Assistant Pastor Margaret Evans of Single Believer’s Ministry for their help in making the program a success. A special, special thanks goes to Pastor Larry L. Polk Sr. of the Second Mission Baptist Church for being our host this year.

Thanks to IDMA officers; Pastor Alfred Cox Jr. of Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church for the spoken word; Bishop William Lewis Jr., of Greater Love Outreach Fellowship Church; Bishop k.d. davis sr. of Sixth Ave. Baptist Church; Mayor Pro-Tem Ruby Williams, County Judge H.M. Davenport Jr.; the Holiday Commission; Martin Luther King Jr. Center board; NAACP and Rowena Winfrey, president; Boys & Girls Club of Navarro County; Navarro County Pct. 2 Commissioner Dick Martin; Navarro College Board of Trustee Faith Holt; Barbara Kelley, CISD board; Dr. Dianne Frost, CISD Superintendent; Navarro College District President Dr. Barbara Kavalier and her executive team; Elmeree Burrell for the morning event for Martin Luther King Jr. Day for our youth; and last but not least, this wonderful community of Corsicana, thank you for your presence for making this program a success. This was our sixth year celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day held in the City of Corsicana. “Keep the Dream Alive — A Day On, and Not a Day Off.”

We also recognize our honorees for the evening event, long-time educator Warner Redus, Sirvella Monie and Paul Lewis for their service to the community.
