Shaw receives degree

Isaac Wayne Shaw of Dawson received a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor during summer commencement ceremonies held Aug. 9.



Murchison named to dean’s list

Frank Bivin Murchison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Murchison of Corsicana, was named to the spring 2008 dean’s list at Vanderbilt University. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must receive grades equivalent to a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for the semester.



Military news

Army Pvt. Damion E. Reese has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Reese, a 1999 graduate of Corsicana High School, is the grandson of Alma Reese and nephew of Linda Smith, both of Corsicana.
