Familiar Faces

Hollomon follows family tradition at Baylor

Randall Scott Hollomon, center, a National Merit Scholar and Corsicana High School valedictorian, followed in the footsteps of his father, Roy Scott Hollomon '81, right; grandfather, Roy Sturgis Hollomon Jr. '56, at left; and great-grandfather, Roy Sturgis Hollomon '24 when he arrived at Baylor in August. Randall is a Baylor Business Fellow and was recently elected a student senator. Roy came all the way from North Carolina to watch his grandson run onto the football field for the first time with the Baylor Line at the Wake Forest game.



Colbert named as member

Sigma Alpha Lambda has announced that Elizabeth Colbert of Corsicana has recently become recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization, at the University of Texas at Arlington. Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national leadership and honors organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development, and lifelong professional fulfillment.



Ashlea Murray, 8, of Purdon, had her hair cut for the first time and donated her hair to ‘Locks of Love’. Ashlea is the daughter of Paula and Mike Murray, and the granddaughter of Bruce and Edith Bailes and Larry and Sue Murray. Diane Ivie of The Stag gave Ashlea her haircut free of charge.



Squads compete

The DCI Stars, under the direction of Barbara Scott and Jaime Skinner, competed at a Cheer America Regional Competition in Denton.

The show team received trophies for its outstanding performance. Team members are Carly Almazan, Mia Andrade, Bailey Cook, Valerie Guzman, Breanna Holmes, Devanie Holmes, Kimi Lamb and Teela Polk.

The mini cheer squad placed fourth in its division. Team members are Courtney Botkin, Maci Coles, Nicci Ferguson, Alex Fisher, Kasey Fisher, Tristin Gillen, Juliana Goodnight, Claire Haden, Lynzie Lamb, Kyleigh Middleton, Korri Owens and Abigail Wilcox.

The youth cheer squad placed third and received the “Best Dance” award. Team members are Katie Brady, Chelsea Callahan, Tory Cantu, Carley Casbeer, Mallory Dowd, Ashley Eggleston, Kathryn Goodnight, Michaela Greer, Katelyn Guinn, Katie Haden, Breanne Jenkins, Natalie McMullan, Logan Melton, Beyonce Morales, Haley Ovalle, Rylea Skinner, Chloe Stewart, Emily Stovall, Rhyann Tunnell and Savana Wolver.

The senior cheer squad placed first and received the “Best Choreography” award. Team members are Shelby Adair, Ashton Bailey, Autumn Brown, Morgan Daniels, Kyla Farmer, Cecilie Harrison, Melody Mayse, McKenzie Mrazek, Sonni Rose, Payton Simpson, Morgan Villarreal, Kayla Wilkie and Catherine Young.

The youth dance team placed first in the pom division. Team members are Chelsea Callahan, Taylor Chancellor, Ashley Eggleston, Kathryn Goodnight, Breanne Jenkins, Natalie McMullan, Rylea Skinner, Anna Stearman and Jada Woolley.

The senior dance team placed first in the pom category and received the “Grand Champion” award. Team members are Shelby Beard, Casey Cox, Meg Funderburk, Katelyn Guinn, McKenzie Mrazek and Payton Simpson.

DCI also had several individuals compete and they all received first place plaques: small group dance — Katelyn Guinn, McKenzie Mrazek and Payton Simpson; spirit leader duo — Mallory Dowd and Rylea Skinner; spirit leader — Shelby Adair; elite best cheerleader duo — McKenzie Mrazek and Kayla Wilkie; mini best dancer — Rylea Skinner; junior prep best dancer — Katelyn Guinn; junior best dancer — Payton Simpson; and senior prep best dancer — Meg Funderburk.
