James Blair Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution

The James Blair Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, met Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at the Kinsloe House. Regent Jan Warren presided at the meeting. Sandra Curtis led the opening prayer.

Special guests who provided the musical program joined members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. The Sam Houston Elementary Bell Choir then sang the Star Spangled Banner using sign language.

Mrs. Kelly Moore, music director at Sam Houston Elementary, introduced her choir members. She stated that they had just performed at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village earlier in the afternoon. They had also provided music previously at the Corsicana Government Center. The Sam Houston Elementary Bell Choir will have a program at the school on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 including English and Spanish music of the season.

For the DAR program, the fifth grade bell choir shared their versions of “Up On the House Top,” “Away in a Manger,” “O Christmas Tree,” “Jolly Ole St. Nicholas,” “Jingle Bells,” and “Silent Night.”

Following their delightful program, the choir enjoyed refreshments provided by Mary Lou McKie and Beth Chapman, meeting hostesses. The choir mingled with the members and spread holiday cheer.

The next James Blair DAR meeting will be held at the Kinsloe House at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014. Previous Texas DAR Insignia Chairman Cynthia White will present the program and hostesses will be Geneva Davis and Mellie Howard.
