Verna Mae Keathley 98th Birthday

Verna Mae (Ainsworth) Keathley will celebrate her 98th birthday on Thursday, May 8 at St. Luke United Methodist Church at 12 noon. A light meal will be provided. Friends and family of Verna are welcome to join.

“Vernie” was born May 8, 1916 near San Antonio. In November 1934 she married Melvin Keathley. They paid 75 cents for their marriage license. They were married for 67 and one-half years, until his death in 2002.

They have one daughter, Rebecca Price, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Vernie worked at K. Wolens Department Store for 13 years. Melvin worked at the Post Office for 32 years.

In 1937 the couple joined 11th Avenue Methodist Church in Corsicana and she joined the working girl’s circle “Weslyn Service Guild.” She is still attending St. Luke United Methodist Church and belongs to the Vera Remonte Circle.

Her birthday party on Thursday is given in her honor by the Vera Remonte Circle and  Lillie Carraway Circle.

No gifts, please. Cards and memories will be welcomed.
