Familiar Faces

Corsicana — Local Cheer Teams Place in Nationals

The DCI Stars, under the direction of Jaime Skinner and assisted by Brittany Stallings, recently attended CGA's National Cheer Competition in Fort Worth on Feb.12 and 13.

CTA also competed at the CGA National Championship on Feb. 12 and 13, at the Ft. Worth Convention Center. The CTA competitive teams also attended the United Cheer National Championship held at Moody Gardens in Galveston on Feb. 19 and 20. CTA Senior Coed Level Three team was named National Champion and Level Three High Point Champion. This team also received a paid bid to a competition in Australia. CTA’s Youth Level two team placed fourth. CTA received the Choreography Award and Bryan Carter received the WOW Award for his performance. CTA Parents won the Best Fans in the Stands Award.

National Champion Individuals are Brynne Janecka in Mini Jumps and McKenna Watkins in “Junior Jumps.” McKenna Watkins was also named “High Point Jumper.”

CTA Cheer teams are coached by Monica Aldama, Glen Becker, Abbie Blankenship, Anthony Brown, Jason Figueroa, Alex Malacara, and Jeri Watkins.

    SEATTLE — A man who used a can of spray paint and a lighter as a makeshift blowtorch to kill a spider in his laundry room started a blaze that caused $60,000 worth of damage, Seattle fire officials said Wednesday.
