— William and Loree Brown of Irene, Texas were high school sweethearts who married in 1938 in Hillsboro. That union, now 75 years old, is still as strong as ever and has claimed a special place in the history of their family.

William is a retired farmer and Bynum ISD mechanic and bus driver. Loree is a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in Malone and Hillsboro for many years. They have three children: daughter Barbara and husband Ray Loveless of Milford, sons Larry and wife Julia of Hillsboro and Ronald and wife Pam of Frost; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Family Fun Day was held Oct. 19, 2013 in honor of William and Loree at their daughter’s historic home in the country near Milford. The day began with a spontaneous and moving renewal of their wedding vows, then a time of singing, family memory time, much laughter, and a catered meal under the trees. All ages, from the youngest of 4 weeks to the oldest of 94 then enjoyed playing or watching all kinds of games, such as darts, basketball shooting, football, miniature golf, skeet shooting, and concluded with a campfire, hot dogs and s’mores at dusk. It truly was a fun day for everyone, and another family memory of love and laughter was made.
