Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave., Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with application and dues. Members and guests are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

Navarro County NAACP will commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a rally/march/oratory contest. The rally will be held at Bunert Park at 10 a.m. Walter Berringer, assistant principal of Corsicana High School, will be the speaker. Immediately following the rally, the group will march to the MLK Center. The oratory contest will begin at noon. MLK Day will be celebrated with a citywide candlelight musical beginning at 7 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church. The main focus will be praise and worship ministry singing and praise dancing. Dairy Johnson Sr., IDMA president and pastor of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.
