Fire called ‘suspicious’

A fire in the early morning hours of Tuesday is being considered “suspicious in nature” by Corsicana Fire Marshal James Palos.

Firefighters were dispatched at 6:09 a.m. to the 200 block of SECR 3040 southwest of Corsicana.

The home, a one-story brick house of about 1,600 square feet, was destroyed, Palos said.

Along with the Corsicana Fire Department, volunteer firefighters from the Barry, Blooming Grove, Corbett/Oak Valley, Purdon and Pursley departments responded to the scene.

Palos said firefighters were on the scene for “most of the morning,” Palos said.

Corsicana police arrested a man for sexual assault this past weekend, according to police reports picked up by the Daily Sun.

Ethan Lee Bryant, 18, of Corsicana was arrested Saturday night, according to Assistant Police Chief Ladena Baggett. She said officers were dispatched at 10:49 p.m. to the scene.

The girl, a teenager, is not of legal age and her identity is withheld since she is a minor.

Bryant was arraigned and charged with the sexual assault. He posted a $10,000 bond and was released.
