Love Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 400 N. Benton St., where David E. Wilson is pastor and Sharron D. Wilson is minister, will observe family and friends day March 15. The theme will be “Christians Standing on the Promises of God.” Scripture text will be Hebrews 10:23 and 1 John 2:25. The messenger will be Sister Shirley Ward Adams, daughter-in-law of the late R.A. Adams and Leona Adams who were members of Love Chapel Church.
Adams was born and raised in Corsicana. She has been married to her high-school sweetheart Rod Adams Jr. for 38 years, and she is the mother of one son, Rod.
She graduated from G.W. Jackson High School, Texas Woman’s University and the Graduate School of Social Work. Religious studies have included Mount Olive Baptist Church Institute Basic and Advanced Curriculum. She retied in August 2003 after 31 1/2 years of working with Texas Youth Commission and City of Arlington.
Adams has been the co-treasurer for the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee Inc., which sponsors an annual four-day celebration in Arlington; organized and participated in mineral rights negotiations for her neighborhood and the Pleasant Ridge Neighborhood Group; and treasurer for the Townsel family reunion. She is a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington and serves on the deaconess board and on the bereavement and visitation committees. She has been a Sunday school teacher for 24 years; member of SWAT (Servants with a Testimony), a support group for people who have or have experienced catastrophic illness; member of women’s Bible study group; member of the team that negotiated a mineral settlement for the North Central Group, which included land owned by the church and 1,200 others in the surrounding neighborhood; and member of the church’s political action committee.
Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m. and worship will be at 11 a.m. with the family and friends day program incorporated in the service. Each family will represent with a song, reading or exercise their gift that God has given them to show forth His praise.
All former members, family and friends are extended a special invitation to join in at the church where the doors are always open and love is given.
Bethel AME Church, 101 N. Fourth St., would like to invite the public to come and celebrate the 62nd anniversary of its gospel choir. This celebration will take place at 3 p.m. April 19. There will be several special musical guests and the gospel choir will be doing what it does best — singing praises to Almighty God. This year’s theme will be “Praise is what I do” and it will dedicated to the memory of Brother Elzie Carroll, who passed away in November 2008. Carroll was a dedicated member of Bethel, steward pro-tem and vice president of the choir. He was also a very active community leader. Another dedicated member of the Bethel family, Sister Katherine Watts has been in the gospel choir since its inception in 1947. Come out and help this choir lift up the name of Jesus on this special day. Gospel choir president is Sister Denise Freeman, minister of music is Jason Forge, pastor is Elder Ray C. Emanuel, and assistant pastor is the Rev. Leonard “Ted” Johnson.
Brown Chapel AME Church in Pelham, where the Rev. Rosa Kea is pastor, will have its praise and worship celebration March 22. You are invited to come and bring your choir, praise dancers, groups or soloists. It will be a joyful time praising the Lord.
Emhouse Baptist Church invites you to hear the trio Cross Timber Gospel Singers at 6 p.m. March 22. All are invited to come and enjoy this service.
Faith Temple Ministries, located on North Highway 75 in Fairfield, where PA. Rischer is pastor, will host a benefit program for Pastor Jimmy Rischer at 4 p.m. March 14. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, 4495 W. State Highway 22, invites you to join in at 10 a.m. each Sunday for worship. At 7 p.m. today, weather permitting, there will be team roping training and basic horsemanship classes in the arena. On March 15, there will be a baby dedication service. Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. March 18 at First Christian Church, 3704 W. State Highway 22. This meeting is open to all men in the community. Navarro County Ministers’ Wives will have a conference at 10 a.m. March 21 at Calvary Full Gospel Church, 308 E. 11th Ave., where Erma J. Young serves as pastor. The messenger for the conference will be Sister Ethel Baptist, who serves as president of the Navarro County Ministers’ Wives and is also the wife of Superintendent Elijah Baptist, pastor of Griffin Chapel Church of God in Christ. The theme for the conference will be “Don’t get disconnected from the vine for it is a fruitful season.” Scripture text will be John 15:1-11. Everyone is invited to attend.
