— Harmony Baptist District will have its fifth Sunday board at 3 p.m. May 31 at Second Mission Baptist Church, 909 S. Fifth St., where Larry L. Polk Sr. is pastor. Zone leader is Minister John L. Dixon. The speakers will be Pastor and Sister Alfred Cox. The theme will be “Jesus Only” from 1 Corinthians 2:2. Guest saxophone soloist will be Erica Grant.

Open Door Church of God in Christ, 1201 E. Eighth Ave., where David Thompson is pastor, will host a revival at 7 p.m. May 27-29 and at 3 p.m. May 31. Westside Baptist Church, 1522 N. 24th St., will host an incredible evening of inspirational Christian music and worship when it opens the doors for Shiloh with a concert beginning at 6 p.m. May 31.
Shiloh is a group that is definitely on the rise in Christian music today. This Texas-based trio is known for a unique and progressive sound that combines inspirational, praise and worship, progressive southern gospel and many other styles of music with an added special Texas flare that Shiloh audiences have come to appreciate. Believers Bible Church, 2400 Bowie Drive, will have a garage sale form 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 22-23. There will also be baked goods for sale along with sodas. Proceeds will be used to help pay for youth camp and mission trips this summer.

Bethlehem Baptist Church, 409 N. Third St., where the Rev. Dairy Johnson Sr. is pastor, invites the public to come celebrate its women’s day annual May 24. The theme will be “Is My Living in Vain” from Proverbs 27:1. The speaker at 11 a.m. will be Sister Jade Ross of Corsicana. At 3:30 p.m. the guest church will be New Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church of Corsicana, and its pastor, the Rev. Donné Watson, will bring the message.

First United Methodist Church of Corsicana, 320 N. 15th St., invites you to a stirring witness at 6 p.m. May 31. Dr. Abraham Sarker will share his journey from Islam to Christianity.
Sarker was born and raised in Bangladesh. His parents trained him to be an Islamic leader and minister. At age 15, he had a dream he had died and Allah threw him into a lake of fire. This dream left him with deep questions about his own salvation. His father sent him to the United States to evangelize to Christians about his Islamic faith and complete a degree. With the tender testimony of a Christian mentor about a loving God, Sarker was reborn and accepted Jesus as his savior. Sarker will share his knowledge of today’s rapid expansion of the Islamic faith and Mosque building in America, including many of them right here in Texas. He will help you to understand the battle for hearts and minds that you are up against, as well as the Abrahamic beliefs of the Muslim people. Finally, he will examine how Christians can best assist in the salvation and transformation of the ever faithful Muslim into an ever faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Sarker is an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University and founder of Gospel for Muslims (www.gospelformuslims.org).

First United Methodist Church of Hubbard, 208 N.W. Second St. (located two blocks south of State Highway 31), invites you to a “liver and onions” support group at 6 p.m. June 1. A feast of liver smothered in onions and various sides, including banana pudding, will be shared in an open and honest environment at a very modest cost. Greater Love Outreach Fellowship Church, 700 E. Park Ave., where Elder William is pastor and Sister Marylyn Lewis is first lady, will have an ordination ceremony at 3:30 p.m. May 24. The speaker will be Elder David Houston of Greater Crossway Church of God in Christ.

Harmony Baptist Church, 400 E. 12th Ave., where Bishop John Baker is pastor, will conclude its three-day women’s revival at 8 p.m. May 22. Speakers will be Opera Rubell Sneed and first lady Jackquelyn Williams from Faith to Faith Ministries in Burleson. Even though women are speaking, all are invited.
The church will hold its annual women’s day service at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. May 24. First lady Minister Vanessa Baker will bring the morning message. The afternoon guests will be Mount Gilead Baptist Church of Italy and its pastor, Preston Dixon, who will be the speaker. The women’s day theme will be “We’re Not Forsaken” from Psalm 37:25. Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance will have its fourth Sunday night fellowship at 7 p.m. May 24 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Streetman, where the Rev. Joe Hubbard is pastor. Speaker for the evening will be the Rev. Donné Watson, pastor of New Cornerstone Baptist Church. IDMA president is Dairy Johnson Sr.

Kelly’s Temple Church of God in Christ family and the Rev. Billy Joe Kelly would like to extend an open invitation to all to hear a mighty word of God in the women’s day program at 11 a.m. May 31. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, 4495 W. State Highway 22, invites you to join in at 10 a.m. each Sunday for worship.
On May 24, there will be a baptismal service. A leadership meeting will be held after the morning service. On May 30, a team roping event will be held in the arena. Books will open at 10 a.m. and roping will begin at 11 a.m. There is a $20 per team entry fee. A buckle will be awarded to the high point header and heeler of the number eight roping. Concessions will be available. On May 31, there will be an eatin’ meetin’ after the worship service. All are invited to join in for fun, food and fellowship.

Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. May 27 at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St. This meeting is open to all men in the community. Open Bible study and gospel singing is held every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. There is no cost to attend. Singing with Patrick and Nancy McCurrin on guitars and Virginia Terry on piano is held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Bible study is held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with Peggy Smith as the teacher of this class. Roane Chapel Full Gospel Church, 100 S. Parham St., where Elder Harold Evans Sr. is pastor, will have its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. May 24. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Arthur C. Faulk. Dinner will be served after the service.

Roane Church, 5012 Farm-to-Market Road 3041 (Roane Road), will have a free give-away from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through June. There will be clothes, toys and various items.

Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, 125 S. Fifth St., where Bishop K.D. Davis Sr. is pastor, will have its annual youth day program at 10:30 a.m. May 24. Clarence Allen David Miller will deliver his first sermon during this worship service.
Clarence is 14 years old and is an eighth grader at Collins Middle School. His extracurricular activities include band and choir where he has participated in award-winning UIL competitions. He has also received special commendation for his TAKS test scores.
He confessed his faith in Christ at the age of 6 and united with Sixth Avenue Baptist Church on Aug. 11, 2002, and was baptized at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Clarence’s church ministry includes playing the drums and organ, and assisting with teaching Sunday school.
In his spare time, he enjoys video games, riding his bike, hanging with friends, and learning to play golf with his grandfather.
He is the son of Constance E. Miller of Corsicana and grandson of Deacon David and Minister Stephanie Easley of Arlington and the late Rev. C.A. Miller and Earline Miller of Corsicana.
