County Commissioners meet Monday

The Navarro County Commissioners Court is scheduled to meet in regular session at 10 a.m. Monday in the county courtroom of the Navarro County Courthouse.

Items on the Monday agenda include:

• Approve the minutes from the previous meeting of May 22, 2009.

• Approve and pay bill as submitted by the County Auditor.

• Consideration of tax report from Russell Hudson.

• Consideration of payment for tanker truck for RC/287 and Navarro Volunteer Fire Departments.

• Consideration of a replat of part of lot 38 and lots 40 and 41 of Francisco Bay Phase I by William M. and Karen Spa.

• Consideration of a replat of part of lots 38 and 39 of Francisco Bay Phase I by Pineco, Inc.

• Consideration of a replat of lots 124 and 125 of the Shores on Richland Chambers Phase I for James and Jane Booher.

• Consideration of taking bids for construction of SECR 2230 bridge in Precinct 3.

• Consideration of approval of an Interlocal Contract between North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC) and the County of Navarro for a Mobile Medical Unit Project.

• Consideration of agreement with the City of Corsicana for use of the city’s Bomag Reclaiming Machine for Precinct 2

• Announcement that new employee has been hired for County Information Technology position and that this position is no longer vacant.

• Consideration of Contract with Dentrust Dental to provide dental services for jail inmates.

Corsicana Police issue release on security solicitors

Approximately 20 young men representing APX Alarm, Security Solutions out of Provo, Utah, have requested permits to solicit in the city limits of Corsicana, according to a release from the Corsicana Police Department. They began their door to door soliciting on Saturday. They are selling security products.

The Corsicana Police Department does not endorse this company nor have they supplied APX with the city’s crime stats to assist them in determining what neighborhoods to target for their sales.

If one of these solicitors comes to your residence, you should ask to see their permit. If they do not have a permit with Chief Randy Bratton’s signature, then they are violating the city ordinance and you should notify the police. Criminal histories are checked on all applicants and only those with no criminal history are issued a permit.

Solicitors are allowed to go door to door during the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday. They are not allowed to solicit on Sunday. If you do not want a person to solicit at your home, you should post a weatherproof card, not less than three inches by four inches in size, upon or near the entrance to your residence, with the wording “NO SOLICITORS.” If a solicitor comes to your residence, after you post this notice, then you should contact the police.

APX solicitors are expected to be in town for six days. If any citizens have a complaint regarding these solicitors, they should contact the police non-emergency number at (903) 654-4902.
