Purple Passion Ladies
The Purple Passion Ladies of the Red Hat Society went to the Hill County Cell Block Museum in Hillsboro June 21. The hostesses were Maurice Jefferson, Catherine Porter, Beatrice Beaty, all of Pelham, and Bobbie Loud of Hubbard. They met the other Purple Passion Ladies at Love’s Travel Stop in Hillsboro before heading to the museum. Other members are from Corsicana, Blooming Grove, Barry, Dawson and Malakoff.
The Purple Passion Ladies divided into two groups to tour the museum. The tour guides showed the ladies around and explained everything very clearly. The musician tour was surprising as they saw some clothing, pictures, awards, documents, etc. The cell block had a lot of old items, tiny jail, documents, post office, and a very old printing machine, just to name a few things. The Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce prepared a useful gift bag for each lady.
Ladies ate dinner at the Lone Star Cafe. The private room at the cafe was decorated with red tablecloths and red and purple balloons. A door prize of a large plant was won by Queen Warner Redus. Then four riddles were asked of members and small gifts were given to ladies with the correct answers. Names were also drawn for a large watermelon and other small gifts. The ladies were served a delicious meal and enjoyed it with love and laughter as they all get together and look forward to the month’s activities. After the meal, some of the ladies went home while others went shopping in downtown Hillsboro and at the outlet mall.
