Harmony Baptist Church, 400 E. 12th Ave., will hold appreciation services for its pastor and wife, the most honorable Bishop John Baker and first lady Minister Vanessa Baker, for their 15 years of faithful service to the church.
The guests for the 8 p.m. July 31 service will be the messenger, Pastor David Thompson, and Open Door Church of God in Christ.
Services will continue Aug. 2. At the 11:30 a.m. service, Elder Roddy Thompson will bring the message. At 4 p.m., the guests will be Mount Zion Church of Ennis and Elder Rufus Gant, pastor, with the assistant pastor, Elder Larry Rhone, bringing the message. Other guests will be the Rev. Joe Hubbard Sr. and Macedonia Baptist Church of Streetman, and Elder Ronald Williams and Faith to Faith Ministries of Burleson.

Kelly’s Temple Church of God in Christ, 501 N. Third St., will present its second annual women’s conference, sponsored by the women’s department, at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 2. The church is expecting God to send a Holy Ghost move of the way church used to be. The theme will be “Take Me Back.” The scripture text will be 2 Timothy 3:14. The speaker will be Evangelist Dorothy Rector of Garland.
Rector is an honorable wife and mother for 30 years and is the oldest of 22 living siblings. She is a retired educator. Rector was called into the gospel ministry at the age of 20, but is now ministering the gospel full time.
She is currently serving as an evangelist and church mother of the International Evangelist Deliverance of Holiness Worldwide Ministries under the leadership of Apostle H.L. McGowan. Her church home ministry is Christ Temple of Deliverance Holiness Church.
You are invited to come out and hear this mother teaching from the old school. Kelly’s Temple COGIC does not want you to miss hearing this mighty woman of God. St. Mary Wesleyan Episcopal Methodist, located for the past 10 years at 320 and 322 W. Sixth Ave. for the church and medical clinic, celebrated groundbreaking services on purchased property on July 25. The services included baptism of new members. First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., will have a combined worship service at 10:50 a.m. in the sanctuary. Custer Road United Methodist Church’s junior high Revelation Choir will lead the worship. This choir is comprised of sixth, seventh and eighth graders. The choir’s performance and music theme will be “Prayer,” based on the acronym ACTS, using the letters to remember the different types of prayer — adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication. First United Methodist Church invites everyone to come and be blessed by this outstanding group of young people.
Frost United Methodist Church is inviting all kids from 3 years through sixth grade to “strap on their sandals” for a Roman adventure Vacation Bible School. The Roman Empire will be “recreated” at Frost United Methodist Church. Find out what it was like to be one of the first Christians, as you step back in time. Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. Northside Baptist Church, 2800 N. Beaton St., invites you to join in for a special worship through music at 7 p.m. Aug. 16. Guitarist David Smart will be the special guest. Smart’s personal music ministry has been heard worldwide. Smart, with his unique arrangements and subtle humor, has helped lead inspiring worship and praise celebrations in numerous centers. He has taught leading guitarists worldwide and, as an active composer, has premiered works for sanctuary choirs, children’s groups, instrumental ensembles, and soloists. Open Bible study and gospel singing is held every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. There is no cost to attend. Open Door Church of God in Christ, 1201 E. Eighth Ave., where David Thompson is pastor, will host “One Hundred of God’s Children Dressed in White” prayer breakfast at 8 a.m. Aug. 1. Donations are $10. Guest speaker will be Minister Tessie Johnson.
Johnson is a member of New Testament Church of Dallas and is a graduate from Southern Baptist College in Dallas. She is a woman who fears the Lord and hates evil. Johnson has an outreach ministry in which she goes into the prison system and state homes to minister to prisoners and staff every Thursday night.
