Busted ... again

Wiggins, Gonzales tagged with massive bonds

By Loyd Cook

It was probably bad enough for Angel Wiggins of Corsicana that he was included in Wednesday’s massive drug operation by the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office and Corsicana Police Department.

But it got worse when law enforcement officers went to his home at Greenbriar Apartments to arrest him.

Capt. Elmer Tanner, head of the NCSO Criminal Investigation Division and narcotics division, said Wiggins and another man were arrested for drugs that day, but on additional charges.

Officers found more drugs in Wiggins’ home.

Tanner said 70 grams of powdered cocaine and about 200 grams (close to a half pound) of marijuana were seized as a part of Wiggins’ arrest Wednesday.

Christopher Gonzales was also arrested on drug charges.

Both men face charges of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance over four grams under 200 grams for the cocaine, and delivery charges for the marijuana. And both charges carry the “in a drug free zone” designation, which carry stiffer punishments due to the arrest location’s proximity to Community Park.

Neither man is likely to be free in the near future as they await trial.

At press time, Wiggins remained in the Navarro County Justice Center jail in lieu of combined bonds totaling $350,000.

He had one other delivery charge — a result of the drug interdiction operation’s eight-month investigation — to go along with the two from Wednesday’s discovery.

Gonzales also remained in the county jail. His bonds total $250,000.
