Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Our Lady’s Altar Society members will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the home of Debbie Hudson, 3900 County Road NW0014. Ladies are asked to bring a salad or dessert to be shared. All ladies of the church, over the age of 18, are invited to join the group.
The goals of the organization include caring for the needs of the church altar, as well as the needs of the parish community through member involvement in a variety of services and social projects. Members also reach out into the broader community to assist with the Food for Fitness, Habitat for Humanity, and Navarro College United Christian Fellowship programs. Members who like to read are invited to join a book club; or, for those who like to crochet or knit, a prayer shawl ministry group is currently being organized.

Awakening America Alliance is calling all Christians to unite for America’s future by coming together for prayer at local county courthouses across the nation from noon to 1 p.m. on Patriot Day, Sept. 11.
The local meeting, based on 2 Chronicles 7:14, will be held on the south side steps of the Navarro County Courthouse. It will not feature speakers or singers but will be focused on praying for the nation and the region to experience a new awakening to Jesus Christ, repent of sin, and see America turn toward righteousness.

Word of Life Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 200 E. 18th Ave., will celebrate its pastor and wife, Lee Sr. and Creola Keeton, in 20th anniversary services at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 7. Bethel AME Church invites you to join the Bethelites in prayer before the annual conference taking place Sept. 6-13 at Anderson Chapel AME Church in Killeen where the Rev. William Campbell Jr. is pastor. Bethel members hope and pray the bishop will return Pastor R.C. and Kaye Emanuel to the church. Delegate is Brother Elzie Carroll and alternate is Sister Penny Liggins.
Get “revived at the revival” which will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 16-18 at Bethel AME Church. Guest speaker will be the Rev. W.T. Arthur of Palestine. The public is invited to attend nightly.
Church of the Living God, 917 G.W. Jackson Ave., will have barbecue and fish dinners and sandwiches for sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 6. Dinners will include barbecue or fish, potato salad, pinto beans, bread or cornbread, and cake. Cost will be $6 for dinners and $3 for sandwiches. Free delivery will be available by calling (903) 872-7470. There will also be a bake sale with cookies, cakes, pies and brownies.
First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., Corsicana is offering a choice of traditional or contemporary worship services beginning Sept. 7. The two traditional services, at 8:30 a.m. and 10:50 a.m., will be held in the historic sanctuary, which has recently been updated. The contemporary 10:50 a.m. service, “The Current,” will be held in the Great Hall of the church. It will be a come-as-you-are service and appeal to those who prefer a more relaxed worship with contemporary praise music and a unique way of hearing the word of God spoken. This month’s sermon series will be titled “The Current.” Both of the 10:50 a.m. services will have a children’s time for 4 year old through third grade except on the first Sunday of the month so that children can be a part of the communion service. Parking is located in the back of the church. Entrance to the Great Hall is through the covered double doors. The main entrance to the sanctuary is on Third Avenue. You are also invited to attend the 9:30 a.m. fellowship in Martin Hall and then visit one of the Sunday school classes for all ages at 9:45 a.m.
FUMC is also offering two new Bible studies. The first will be a 10-week disciple Bible study titled “Invitation to Psalms.” The study will be offered from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays with the first class to meet Sept. 9. The study will also be offered from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 10. These studies will be co-led by Mike Alexander and Steve Moss. A second Bible study for women will be a video series by Beth Moore titled “Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruits of the Spirit.” The lunchtime study will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays. It began Sept. 3 and will conclude Nov. 12. The first 30 minutes of each study will be a discussion period and the video presented from noon to 1 p.m. This study will be led by Ann Stites. First United Methodist Church of Kerens will have its Lord’s Acre Sept. 13 at the Kerens Alumni Center in downtown Kerens starting with a bake sale at 10:30 a.m. A brisket barbecue lunch will be served beginning at 11 a.m. at a cost of $7 for adults and $3 for children. An auction will begin at 12:30 p.m. Come join in for food, fun and fellowship.
Frost United Methodist Church, located at the corner of North Frost and Whiteselle streets, will have a big “Round-Up Sunday” Sept. 7. Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m. with worship at 10:50 a.m. followed by a barbecue dinner.
Greater Deliverance Temple Church of God in Christ will have a gospel music explosion benefit at 6 p.m. Sept. 14 at First United Methodist Church of Hubbard, 208 N.W. Second St. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Live in concert will be David and Tamela Mann with Elder Paul Puckett, Jimmy Wright and the Promises, Superintendent E.W. Whitfield and a host of others. The Manns have sung with Kirk Franklin and family and have been in the Tyler Perry movie collection such as “Madea Class Reunion” and others. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County invites you to join in at 10 a.m. each Sunday for worship service at its new location, 4495 W. State Highway 22.
On Sept. 7, there will be a child dedication during the morning worship service. Contact Jarvis Smith to have your child included. After the service, there will be a baby shower for the Riersons. Everyone is invited to participate. On Sept. 14, there will be a leaders meeting after the morning service. There will also be a new members class held for anyone interested in joining the church.

Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast meets at 6:45 a.m. Wednesdays in the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. Open Bible study and gospel singing is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, 125 S. Fifth St., where Bishop K.D. Davis Sr. is pastor and the Rev. H.P. Thirteenth Avenue Christian Church, 817 E. 13th Ave., will celebrate its 89th homecoming/church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sept. 7.
The pre-annual homecoming musical will be 7 p.m. Sept. 6. The musical will be open to any area singer that would like to perform that night, so come and represent your church. Give at least an A selection. The Lord will be praised in song. If you would like to join in, you are welcome. The male chorus will perform an A and B selection. Also singing will be The Guys, Freedom Fellowship, Robert Wafer, and others.
The Sunday service will have the Rev. Larry Robinson of Cedar Grove Christian Church of Rockwall as guest speaker and the history of Thirteenth Avenue Christian Church, so come and help celebrate. Unity Baptist Church, 406 S. 34th St., where Brother Chad Owens is pastor, invites you to services: Sunday — Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m., worship and children’s church at 11 a.m., Bible study classes at 5 p.m., and worship at 6 p.m.; and Wednesday — prayer meeting at 7 p.m. King’s Kids Class meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Watchmen Awakening the Region will have meetings from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturdays beginning Sept. 13 for those prayer warriors who want to gather together to declare the kingdom of God through prophetic prayers of intercession and bring about societal transformation in this region.
Based on Ezekiel 3:17 and 22:30, Watchmen Awakening the Region (WAR) meetings are open to anyone who desires to come together in the name of Jesus Christ to engage in spiritual warfare. Wesley United Methodist Church, 3308 N. Beaton St., will have an open house the month of September. Everyone is welcome to come and join in. On Sept. 7, there will be a social hour beginning at 9:45 a.m. with worship following at 11 a.m. Come as you are and experience a laid-back, traditional congregation who loves to worship an awesome God.
At 8 a.m. Sept. 13, the church will have a Lord’s Acre breakfast. The all-you-can-eat breakfast will be $6 and include bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, grits, coffee and juice. Everyone is welcome.
