Kerens man dies in accident

Driver not wearing seat belt, report says

A Kerens man was killed early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle accident on FM 2859 just north of Eureka.

Ronald Earl Crowder was driving his 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck east on FM 2859 at approximately 2:55 a.m. Sunday when the fatal accident occurred.

According to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Crowder’s pickup left the south side of the roadway, overcorrected and re-entered roadway, they left the roadway on the north side of FM 2859. Crowder’s truck then crossed a private driveway, and then overcorrected again in an attempt to re-enter the roadway. The truck then slid through a bar ditch and rolled over several times before coming to a rest on its top.

The report said Crowder, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle in the accident.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Casey Crocker of the Department of Public Safety office in Corsicana. He was assisted at the scene by Trooper Matt McGinnis, Navarro County Sheriff’s deputies, the Corsicana Fire Department and the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department.
