Westside Baptist Church, 1422 N. 24th St., cordially invites you to its fall revival services Oct. 24-25. The 7 p.m. Oct. 24 service will be children and youth night and will be preceded by a pizza fellowship at 6 p.m. The 7 p.m. Oct. 25 service will have an emphasis for adults. The Solid Rockers of First Baptist Church will be guest singers, and there will be a dessert fellowship after the service. On Oct. 26, Bible study will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a covered dish luncheon at noon. The final revival service will begin at 1 p.m.

The Rev. James Sliger will be evangelist for the revival. Sliger is currently pastor of Woodland Baptist Church in Beaumont. He has served at numerous churches in Texas and New Mexico and has conducted many revivals. Sliger has a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973 to 1976.

Chuck McElroy, pastor of music ministries at First Baptist Church, will lead the music for the revival.

Barry United Methodist Church and Emhouse United Methodist Church will have its Lord’s Acre Nov. 1 at the Fannie Mae Vernon Room of the Navarro County Exposition Center, State Highway 22, Corsicana. Country store and sweet shop will open at 10:30 a.m. with lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu will be turkey and dressing and trimmings, and homemade pies. Carry-out meals will be available. Auction will begin at 1 p.m.



Church in the Park, where James Shugart is pastor, meets at Fullerton-Garitty Park pavilion at 9 a.m. each Sunday. Church in the Park began as a ministry for folks of any or no denomination who are not involved in a local church. You are welcome to “come as you are” for Bible study and worship in a relaxed, casual, outdoor setting. For more information, call (903) 874-3114.



Eureka United Methodist Church will hold its 46th annual Lord’s Acre dinner and auction Oct. 25. The country store, with Dana Driscoll and Sherry Cappallo as store keepers, will open at 10 a.m. The store will be open all day. A delicious barbecue dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Barney Thomas, Randy Thomas and Fred Richards will prepare the meat. The trimmings will be prepared by ladies of the church. The auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. Judge Kirby Hill will be the auctioneer. This year’s hard-working chairmen have been the Rev. Jerden and Edna Davis.

Eureka UMC and the Rev. David Ricker, minister, invite everyone to attend the Lord’s Acre and Sunday worship services. Church school begins at 10 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m. Come join in as the work of the Lord is celebrated.



Faith Lutheran Church, 3824 W. State Highway 22, invites you to the 16th annual Oktoberfest, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 18. There will be freshly made bread and cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies and cakes for sale, a rummage sale, arts, crafts and more. There will also be a drawing for a king-size quilt, lap quilt, king-size bed set, handmade basket made in Togo, West Africa, and hand-embroidered tablecloth and eight napkins. Great German food will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Menu will be bratwurst dinners with sauerkraut, German potato salad, green beans and drink for $6.50. Brats on a bun will be $3. It will be food and fun for the whole family.



First United Methodist Church of Hubbard, 208 N.W. Second St., will have its 30th annual Lord’s Acre festival Oct. 18. From 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the country store will be open at fellowship hall with many handmade items and baked goods available for purchase. Visitors will also have an opportunity to preview the many beautiful quilts made by the Quilters for Christ as well as other items that will be in the auction that begins at 2 p.m. At the conclusion of the auction, a turkey and dressing meal will be served in the Haralson Center, adjacent to the church. Frost United Methodist Church will celebrate “National Children’s Sabbath” at 11 a.m. Oct. 19. The children will be leading worship with the theme of “Faith, Hope, Love and God’s Grace.” The new children’s bell choir will play “Amazing Grace” and the girls liturgical dance troupe will be performing. All elementary age students present will receive an NIV children’s Bible as a gift from the church.

Lakeside United Methodist Church, 515 Farm-to-Market Road 416, Streetman, will have “Mission Marketplace” Nov. 8 with a silent auction and a live auction, along with lunch and entertainment. The silent auction will begin at 10 a.m. with tables closing at various times until 12:30 p.m. The hamburger and hot dog lunch will be from noon to 1 p.m. with entertainment provided by St. Elmo Sound. The live auction will begin at 1 p.m.

A variety of themed baskets, personal service items, and quality crafts will be available for auction. Proceeds from the day will go toward five local charitable organizations: Corsicana Rainbow Room, Camp of the Rising Sun, Pleasant Hills Children’s Home, House of Refuge, and Carpenters for Christ.

You are invited to come out, participate in the auctions, and enjoy a great lunch, all for a good cause.



Landmark Independent Baptist Church, 4429 W. State Highway 31, invites all to visit the “Pumpkin Patch” from Oct. 19 through Nov. 8. The pumpkin patch will be a fund-raiser with proceeds going into the building fund. The pumpkin patch will have pumpkins of all sizes, photo opportunities, crafts, baked goods and story time for the kids featuring “The Pumpkin Parable” and more. Also, the public is invited to hear the Nashville, Tenn.,-based “Blackwood Legacy” gospel group at 7 p.m. Oct. 24. The group features former Blackwood Brothers Quartet lead singer and Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee Rick Price. Admission will be free and a love offering will be received.

Price has gathered some of the most-talented and sought-after gospel artists on the scene today to create a dynamic Blackwood Brothers tribute concert that features the well-remembered old favorites such as “Beulah Land” and “How Great Thou Art,” as well as fresh new gospel and worship music. Included in the lineup is Washington State native Luke Yates, a dynamic pianist and vocalist who recently exploded on the gospel music scene, and former Florida Boys tenor Don E. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, 4495 W. State Highway 22, invites you to join in at 10 a.m. each Sunday for worship.

Oct. 19 is bring a friend to church day. On Oct. 31, everyone is invited to join in for a fun-filled Halloween weekend. There will be “truck or treat” in the arena with free games, hot dogs and candy. Other activities will be held inside. At 11 a.m. Nov. 1, there will be arena events for children and adults including mutton busing, a stick horse rodeo, and others. Concessions will be available. The new church dedication will be Nov. 2. Two services will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with a catered barbecue dinner between services at 12:30 p.m.

Weather permitting, team roping practice is held at 7 p.m. Mondays at Randy Springer’s arena. At 7 p.m. Wednesdays there is Bible study and youth meetings at the church. Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast meets at 6:45 a.m. Wednesdays in the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. Missionary Baptist Church, 405 S. 15th St., will host the gospel group Glorybound at 2 p.m. Nov. 2. All are invited to come and hear the message in song and enjoy the fellowship.



New Bethel Baptist Church will have its annual youth day at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 19. The Rev. Terry Hudson of Mount Horeb Baptist Church of Waxahachie will be the guest speaker. The theme will be “A New Gang: BLOOD (Believers Leading Others Out of Darkness)” with scripture from 1 John 1:7. Pastor is the Rev. Earnest Betts Jr. and youth director is Sister Arlene Benjamin.



Open Bible study and gospel singing is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. Peggy Smith is the teacher of this class, and there is no cost to attend. Requirements are an open mind and an open Bible. The Father’s House will have a fall revival, “Set Free in the Fall,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 24-25 and 11 a.m. Oct. 26 at The Father’s House Prayer Garden in downtown Richland, weather permitting. XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest) will meet at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 21 in fellowship hall at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 312 N. 13th St. An unusual program will be presented by Gay Schroeder, owner of Always in Bloom. She has done much research on the Beaton Street building, the old Merchants Opera House, the location of her business. Gaylord and Dorothy Edling, co-moderators, invite everyone to attend the luncheon. Men and women of all ages and faiths are encouraged to attend. A meat dish and beverages will be provided. Bring a salad, vegetable dish or a dessert and your friends. Come for warm fellowship, good food and a super program.
