Greater Renfro Memorial Church of God in Christ will celebrate its pastor and wife, Elder William and Marylyn Lewis, for 23 years of faithful service at 7:30 p.m. today and at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Today’s guest speaker will be Bishop John Baker of Harmony Baptist Church. Sunday’s guest speaker will be Pastor Harold Evans of Roane Chapel Full Gospel Baptist Church. There will be many other churches and pastors that will celebrate this occasion as well.
Barry United Methodist Church and Emhouse United Methodist Church will have its Lord’s Acre Nov. 1 at the Fannie Mae Vernon Room of the Navarro County Exposition Center, State Highway 22, Corsicana. Country store and sweet shop will open at 10:30 a.m. with lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu will be turkey and dressing and trimmings, and homemade pies. Carry-out meals will be available. Auction will begin at 1 p.m.
Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church, 717 E. 13th Ave., (903) 872-8071, where Dr. Norman Stiggers is pastor, will have a second chance revival. If you need a fresh start or if your past is holding your future hostage, you are invited to join in at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 through Nov. 1, excluding Oct. 30. Evangelist will be Moses Brown from Tampa, Fla. He has been heard on 3ABN, Hope Channel and others. He has evangelized around the world and baptized hundreds of souls for the kingdom of God.
Church of the Living God, 917 G.W. Jackson Ave., (903) 872-7470, will have dinners for sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Meals will be fish, smoked or barbecue chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread, bread, and cake. Plates will be $6 or sandwiches for $3. Free delivery is available.
Community Baptist Church will observe its 57th homecoming Nov. 2. All friends and former members are invited to come and worship. Sunday school will be at 9:45 a.m. with worship at 10:50 a.m. Southern Joy will be the guest singers, and a special singing will start at 1:30 p.m.
Cornerstone Baptist Church, 801 N. 13th St., will have its fall festival from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be games, food, prizes and candy.
Eureka United Methodist Church will hold its 46th annual Lord’s Acre dinner and auction Oct. 25. The country store, with Dana Driscoll and Sherry Cappallo as store keepers, will open at 10 a.m. The store will be open all day. A delicious barbecue dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Barney Thomas, Randy Thomas and Fred Richards will prepare the meat. The trimmings will be prepared by ladies of the church. The auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. Judge Kirby Hill will be the auctioneer. This year’s hard-working chairmen have been the Rev. Jerden and Edna Davis.
Eureka UMC and the Rev. David Ricker, minister, invite everyone to attend the Lord’s Acre and Sunday worship services. Church school begins at 10 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m. Come join in as the work of the Lord is celebrated.
Faith Temple Ministries, North Highway 75, Fairfield, where P.A. Rischer is pastor, will celebrate its 15th annual family and friends day at 4 p.m. Oct. 26. The speaker will be Minister Willie Carwell of Palestine, a member of Faith Tabernacle Ministries where Carlos Daniels is pastor. Evangelist Cynthia Shed will be the mistress of ceremony. First Baptist Church of Corsicana will have a fall festival from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at its Family Life Center, located on the corner of West Fifth Avenue and North 15th Street. There will be free games, candy and lots of fun. All ages welcome.
First United Methodist Church of Corsicana, 320 N. 15th St., will host its monthly W.Y.O. (Were Young Once) meeting at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 28. Gretchen London will be giving a book review on “Texas Disasters” by Mike Cox. Open Bible study and gospel singing is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. Lakeside United Methodist Church, 515 Farm-to-Market Road 416, Streetman, will have “Mission Marketplace” Nov. 8 with a silent auction and a live auction, along with lunch and entertainment. The silent auction will begin at 10 a.m. with tables closing at various times until 12:30 p.m. The hamburger and hot dog lunch will be from noon to 1 p.m. with entertainment provided by St. Elmo Sound. The live auction will begin at 1 p.m.
A variety of themed baskets, personal service items, and quality crafts will be available for auction. Proceeds from the day will go toward five local charitable organizations: Corsicana Rainbow Room, Camp of the Rising Sun, Pleasant Hills Children’s Home, House of Refuge, and Carpenters for Christ.
You are invited to come out, participate in the auctions, and enjoy a great lunch, all for a good cause.
Landmark Independent Baptist Church, 4429 W. State Highway 31, invites all to visit the “Pumpkin Patch” through Nov. 8. The pumpkin patch is a fund-raiser with proceeds going into the building fund. The pumpkin patch has pumpkins of all sizes, photo opportunities, crafts, baked goods and story time for the kids featuring “The Pumpkin Parable” and more. The pumpkin patch is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Sundays.

Lighthouse of Praise, 200 E. Collin St., where Dan Layne is pastor, invites the public to hear the Nashville, Tenn.,-based “Blackwood Legacy” gospel group at 7 p.m. Oct. 24. The group features former Blackwood Brothers Quartet lead singer and Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee Rick Price. Admission will be free and a love offering will be received.
Price has gathered some of the most-talented and sought-after gospel artists on the scene today to create a dynamic Blackwood Brothers tribute concert that features the well-remembered old favorites such as “Beulah Land” and “How Great Thou Art,” as well as fresh new gospel and worship music. Included in the lineup is Washington State native Luke Yates, a dynamic pianist and vocalist who recently exploded on the gospel music scene, and former Florida Boys tenor Don E. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, 4495 W. State Highway 22, invites you to join in at 10 a.m. each Sunday for worship.
On Oct. 31, the community is invited to join in for “truck or treat” in the arena with games and candy. There will be a bounce house, cake walk and free hot dogs. On Nov. 1, there will be a “Little Wranglers” rodeo from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Events will include mutton busting, a stick horse rodeo, and others. Concessions will be available. The new church dedication will be Nov. 2 with services at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A catered barbecue dinner will be served between services at 12:30 p.m.

Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast meets at 6:45 a.m. Wednesdays in the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. The kitchen will be dedicated to the memory of Edward Granville, and the fellowship room dedicated to Edward and Evelyn Granville. Westside Baptist Church, 1422 N. 24th St., cordially invites you to its fall revival services Oct. 24-26. The 7 p.m. Oct. 24 service will be children and youth night and will be preceded by a pizza fellowship at 6 p.m. The 7 p.m. Oct. 25 service will have an emphasis for adults. The Solid Rockers of First Baptist Church will be guest singers, and there will be a dessert fellowship after the service. On Oct. 26, Bible study will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a covered dish luncheon at noon. The final revival service will begin at 1 p.m.
The Rev. James Sliger will be evangelist for the revival. Sliger is currently pastor of Woodland Baptist Church in Beaumont. He has served at numerous churches in Texas and New Mexico and has conducted many revivals. Sliger has a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973 to 1976.
Chuck McElroy, pastor of music ministries at First Baptist Church, will lead the music for the revival.
