Disaster Action Team (DAT) leaders are needed. The Corsicana branch of the American Red Cross is seeking experienced professionals to respond to local disasters. The branch is looking for individuals who have prior success in various aspects of management and/or have had success in leadership roles within the public and private sector. DAT meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at 701 W. Second Ave. Newcomers are welcome, and refreshments will be served. The branch is also looking for residents who can come and assist with client follow-up and data entry of current disaster cases. For more information, call Shelly Campbell at (903) 874-4551 or e-mail to scampbell@redcrossdallas.org.

New Beginnings group of Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. every Monday in the family activities building at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St. All meetings are non-smoking.

Free GED, ESL and literacy classes are offered in Corsicana, Ennis, Fairfield, Ferris, Mexia, Midlothian, Red Oak and Waxahachie. Day and evening classes are available. To obtain a schedule or request more information, contact the Navarro College Department of Adult Education at (903) 875-7464 or (903) 875-7460.

Navarro County Animals at Risk Foundation meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Monday of every month in the sunroom at Heritage Oaks West. Visitors and anyone interested in animal welfare are always welcome. NCARF is also collecting empty ink jet cartridges, empty laser cartridges and digital cell phones to be recycled. Money received from the recycling will help the homeless and neglected animals of Navarro County. Instead of just tossing these items away, save them and save the life of a deserving cat or dog. You can drop off your items at Sonda’s Doggie Doos, 817 N. Main St.; Today Homes, 1131 W. Seventh Ave.; or YMCA, 400 W. Oaklawn. For more information, call (903) 654-3668.

Donations may be made to the Vicki Morehead Fund at Community National Bank, P.O. Box 624, Corsicana, TX 75151, or brought by Victorian Sample Florist, 325 N. Beaton St. Morehead had a stroke Oct. 8 which left her paralyzed on her right side and inability to speak. Donated funds will help with extensive rehab and physical therapy.
