Bethany Baptist Church, will celebrate 59 years of the church anniversary and homecoming at 3 p.m. Nov. 16. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Frazier of Bible Believers Church of Dallas. The other guest church will be Power in Christ and the Rev. Emmuel Mosley of Dallas. The theme will be “Be steadfast and immovable” from 1 Corinthians 15:58. You are invited to come and help celebrate this blessed occasion.
Calvary Worship Center, 1364 N. Beaton St., will host an evening with The Freemans. Their ministry spans three decades with numerous awards and number one songs on the southern gospel top 80 chart. Chris Freeman was just inducted to the Gospel Music Hall of Fame for her award-winning years with the Hinsons. They hold the honor of having the fastest-rising song to the number one slot in gospel music history with the song “He Chose Me.” This magnificent night of gospel music will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 22. Opening up for the Freemans will be Corsicana’s own Southern Joy. Tickets are $10 with children 4 and under free. Faith Temple Ministries, North Highway 75, Fairfield will celebrate the church musicians for their devoted service. First lady Demetria Daniels will be the mistress of ceremonies. At 4 p.m. Nov. 15, organist Ivy Joe Rischer, choir director Marcus Hatcher, saxophonist Janet Gibson, and drummer Richard Hatcher will be set aside and ministered to by Pastor Demetrius Beachum of Temple/Marlin. First United Methodist Church of Corsicana, 320 N. 15th St., will have its fall festival and annual bazaar Nov. 25, sponsored by the United Methodist Women. The luncheon menu will be turkey spaghetti, green beans, salad, rolls, and pumpkin cake. Tickets are on sale from UMW members and at the church office. Tickets are $7 each. You may dine in or call (903) 874-5657 to make arrangements for a take-out lunch. The phone line for take-out lunches will be activated from 10 a.m. to noon on the day of the bazaar. There will be homemade cakes, pies, breads, plus miscellaneous items for sale. The doors of the bazaar will open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served until 1 p.m. Tickets are good only for the luncheon, regardless if you dine in or take out. Also for sale will turkey spaghetti ($8 per quart; $4 per pint). A silent auction will also be open from 11 a.m. to closing.
Greater Wilgo Baptist Church, 621 E. First Ave., where Arthur C. Faulk serves as pastor, will observe its 104th church anniversary Nov. 23. Wilgo’s own Brother Harold Andrews will be the 11 a.m. speaker. At 3:30 p.m. the special guest will be the former pastor of Wilgo, Pastor A.L. Bell of Zion Hill Baptist Church of Gilmer. Also, the Spiritual Disciples of Dallas will perform at the 3:30 p.m. service. Everyone is invited to worship on this glorious occasion.
Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1700 S. Business Highway 45, will hold its annual homecoming and family and friends day at 3 p.m. Nov. 16. Pastor Joseph Johnson Sr., Missionary Charlene Johnson, first lady, and the entire Johnson Memorial Church family cordially invite all former members as well as family and friends to attend.
The speaker will be Evangelist Kimberly Johnson Washington, the daughter of the late Elder Johnny K. Johnson Sr., founder of the former 12th Street COGIC, later named in memory of him.
Washington is the founder and overseer of the Inner Court Evangelistic Ministries Inc., located in Weirgate. Washington proclaims God’s assignment to preach the uncompromising word of God to every lost soul and teach converted believers to cultivate and solidify their relationship with God.
Washington is married to Brian Washington and is the mother of five children and has one grandson. She is a graduate of Lamar University with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, is a certified master reading teacher and has a master’s degree in education administration. She is presently employed with the Jasper Independent School District where she teaches seventh and eighth grade history.

Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, 4495 W. State Highway 22, invites you to join in at 10 a.m. each Sunday for worship. Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Nov. 19 in the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. The breakfast at 6:45 a.m. Nov. 26 will be held at Lighthouse of Praise, 200 E. Collin St. Meetings are open to all men in the community. St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 N. 14th St., will be selling fresh, home-cooked barbecue from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 22 to benefit mission work in the African nation of Burkina Faso. Orders are due by Nov. 16 and must be prepaid. Beef brisket and pork loin is $7 for half-pound and $10 for a full pound. Whole smoked chicken is $10, and whole smoked turkey is $25. Wesley United Methodist Church, 3308 N. Beaton St., invites all children from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade to join in from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 6 for a special one-day Vacation Bible School presenting “The Christmas Story,” featuring a puppet show and including games, arts and crafts, and music. XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest) will meet at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 18 in fellowship hall at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 312 N. 13th St. An entertaining program will be presented by musician Bobby Fluker. His musical program will include songs of Texas entertainers in the Central Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. This will be a treat for everyone who attends. Gaylord and Dorothy Edling, co-moderators, invite everyone to attend the luncheon. Men and women of all ages and faiths are encouraged to attend. A meat dish and beverages will be provided.
