Calvary Worship Center, 1364 N. Beaton St., will host an evening with The Freemans. Their ministry spans three decades with numerous awards and number one songs on the southern gospel top 80 chart. Chris Freeman was just inducted to the Gospel Music Hall of Fame for her award-winning years with the Hinsons. They hold the honor of having the fastest-rising song to the number one slot in gospel music history with the song “He Chose Me.” This magnificent night of gospel music will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 22. Opening up for the Freemans will be Corsicana’s own Southern Joy. Tickets are $10 with children 4 and under free. Church of the Living God, 917 G.W. Jackson Ave., will have a bake sale and plate lunches for sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 22. Menu will be smoked leg quarters, barbecue, links, fish, potato salad, coleslaw, pinto bans, cornbread, and homemade cake. Cost will be $6 for plate lunches and $3 for sandwiches. Community Baptist Church is preparing a mission project in the last week of December to provide electricity to the chapel at Casa Hogar La Nueva Esperansa, but the mission project needs more funding to complete the first stage of the two-stage project.
Casa Hogar La Nueva Esperansa is an orphanage of about 28 children located in Cuidad Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico, 20 miles southeast of Falcon Lake. For more information, contact Kevin Burns at (903) 641-9160.

Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 23 at First Baptist Church, 510 W. Collin St., Corsicana, hosted by the Corsicana Ministerial Alliance and Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance. The keynote speakers will be County Judge H.M. Davenport and Bo Loftis, president of Corsicana Ministerial Alliance and pastor of The Word Church. Providing the music will be Navarro College Chorale, The Gospel Five, Southern Joy, and Mass Gospel Choir. Other ministers that will be involved are host pastor David Edwards, Donné Watson, Dairy Johnson, Morgan Hamilton, Doyle Purifoy and Gary Johnson.

First United Methodist Church of Corsicana, 320 N. 15th St., will have its fall festival and annual bazaar Nov. 25, sponsored by the United Methodist Women. The luncheon menu will be turkey spaghetti, green beans, salad, rolls, and pumpkin cake. Tickets are on sale from UMW members and at the church office. Tickets are $7 each. You may dine in or call (903) 874-5657 to make arrangements for a take-out lunch. The phone line for take-out lunches will be activated from 10 a.m. to noon on the day of the bazaar. There will be homemade cakes, pies, breads, plus miscellaneous items for sale. The doors of the bazaar will open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served until 1 p.m. Tickets are good only for the luncheon, regardless if you dine in or take out. Also for sale will turkey spaghetti ($8 per quart; $4 per pint). A silent auction will also be open from 11 a.m. to closing.

Greater Renfro Memorial Church, 700 E. Park Ave., will be giving away coats and clothes for adults and kids and food for those in need of a few things before the winter weather begins. The give-away event will be held beginning at 9 a.m. Nov. 22.

Greater Wilgo Baptist Church, 621 E. First Ave., where Arthur C. Faulk serves as pastor, will observe its 104th church anniversary Nov. 23. Wilgo’s own Brother Harold Andrews will be the 11 a.m. speaker. At 3:30 p.m. the special guest will be the former pastor of Wilgo, Pastor A.L. Bell of Zion Hill Baptist Church of Gilmer. Also, the Spiritual Disciples of Dallas will perform at the 3:30 p.m. service. Everyone is invited to worship on this glorious occasion.

Harmony Baptist Church, 400 E. 12th Ave., will hold its mission day annual at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 23. Guest church for this great occasion will be New Covenant Church of God in Christ of Texas in Waxahachie, where Lonnie and Barbara Collins are pastors. Pastor Barbara Collins will bring the message from this year’s theme, “The church is in warfare, but the church will win.” The theme scriptures will be Ezekiel 37 and Romans 6:1-2. House of Refuge Church of God in Christ, 413 Farm-to-Market Road 709 East, Dawson, where Elder Paul E. Puckett is pastor, invites the public to a “Money Smart” seminar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6, held in the church’s Mosley and Sample Fellowship Hall. Registration will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Certified instructor Bettye Barge-Calhoun will present the topics of “Check It Out” and “Pay Yourself First.” There will be door prizes and refreshments. Love Chapel Baptist Church, 400 N. Benton St., where David E. Wilson is pastor and Sharron D. Wilson is minister, will observe the annual men’s and women’s day program at 11 a.m. Nov. 23. The spoken word will be brought by Pastor Joe D. Hubbard Sr. and Minister Florine Hubbard of Macedonia Baptist Church in Streetman. The theme for the occasion will be “Walk in the Light” from the scripture text 1 John 5:1-10. An invitation is extended to the public to come and praise the Lord in this service.

Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Nov. 26 at Lighthouse of Praise, 200 E. Collin St. Meetings are open to all men in the community. Wesley United Methodist Church, 3308 N. Beaton St., invites all children from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade to join in from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 6 for a free event, a special one-day Vacation Bible School presenting “The Christmas Story,” featuring a puppet show by Pat and Harvey Strain, and including games, arts and crafts, and music. Lunch will be provided. This will be a great opportunity for parents to go shopping for the holidays.
