Cornerstone Baptist Church had approximately 100 volunteers who donated, prepared and served a Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day to 650 people. This meal was open to anyone in the community who needed a Thanksgiving meal. Volunteers went door-to-door to low income apartments and personally invited or left fliers for the residents. The meal consisted of 25 turkeys, 20 hams, and gallons and gallons of dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls, and all kinds of cakes and pies. About 370 meals were delivered to Meals on Wheels and Food for Fitness recipients, Friendship Towers, Northwest Apartments, Lago De Plato, Eastside Apartments, Kingsway Inn, Corsicana Inn, local firemen and policemen and to some local businesses where people had to work on Thanksgiving Day. This was the fourth year for Cornerstone to serve a Thanksgiving meal. Debbie Riggs organized this ministry.
