Central Appraisal District holds its board meetings at 3 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at 111 E. First Ave.



Navarro Regional Hospital Auxiliary has a cookbook called “Volunteers in the Kitchen” for sale in the hospital gift shop at $18. Recipes were compiled from the auxiliary volunteers. Proceeds go toward the Winona Stewart Scholarship Fund, which is for students attending Navarro College who are going into the medical field.



Any old interior pictures of the Navarro County Courthouse are being sought. Those during the inception of the courthouse (1905) through the 1930s are especially needed. If you have one of these photos, the Corsicana Preservation Foundation would like to borrow them for a short period of time. You may drop off your photos with Lowell Dunn at Moe and Dunn PLLC, 1200 W. Second Ave.; or with Hugh Stroube at U Store, 310 N. 12th St.



Navarro County Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance meets at 7 p.m. each Tuesday in the fellowship hall at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 N. 14th St. All are welcome to learn to give and to receive support at the weekly meetings. On the first Tuesday of each month, Dr. Tom Sheriff, licensed psychologist, conducts a study of “The Depression Workbook: A Guide for Living with Depression and Manic Depression.” For more information, call (903) 872-6302 or (903) 874-6815.



A blood pressure clinic, sponsored by Vital Signs Home Health and Hospice, will be held at 10 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month in the sunroom of Friendship Towers. For more information, call (903) 874-4745.



“Celebrate Recovery,” a 12-step Bible-based Christ-centered recovery program for adults, is held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays at First Baptist Church fellowship hall, 510 W. Collin St., and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at 918 N. 13th St. Child care is available for Mondays. Basic for Living classes for women of all ages are held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. every first and third Saturday of the month September through May in the fellowship hall of Griffin Chapel Church of God in Christ, 709 E. 12th Ave. Topics will include beginners sewing, food and nutrition, communication classes, defensive driving, money management and other topics. Donations may be made to the Vicki Morehead Fund at Community National Bank, P.O. Box 624, Corsicana, TX 75151, or brought by Victorian Sample Florist, 325 N. Beaton St. Morehead had a stroke Oct. 8 which left her paralyzed on her right side and inability to speak. Donated funds will help with extensive rehab and physical therapy.



A grief support luncheon is offered at noon on the first Wednesday of each month at the office of Hospice of Cedar Lake, 625 N. Main St. The lunch is potluck, so just bring a favorite dish. Corsicana Police Department will accept alarm permit renewals during December. Any permit that is renewed before Dec. 31, 2008, can be renewed with a $5 fee. Any permit that is renewed after Jan. 1, 2009, will require a $25 renewal fee. Any operational burglar alarm system that is located in the city limits of Corsicana is required by City Ordinance (Sec 4.1200) to have a current alarm permit on file. Violation of this ordinance can result in a citation being issued to the owner of the premises where the alarm is located. Alarm permits can be renewed in person at the Corsicana Police Department, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays or by mail at Corsicana Police Department, Records Division, 200 N. 12th St., Corsicana, TX 75110.
