Blooming Grove Crime Watch will not be meeting due to New Year’s Day.
There will not be an American Red Cross blood drive on Jan. 1 due to the holiday. The next regularly scheduled blood drive will be Feb. 5.

Eureka Crime Watch will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Special guest will be Bob Pritchett from the Tarrant County Regional Water District office who will discuss the status of “the Wetlands” project. If prior schedules permit, a second speaker from the Water District will discuss the pros and cons of power plants on Richland-Chambers Reservoir resources. The public is invited to attend this informative meeting. Refreshments will be served following the meeting.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave., Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with application and dues. Members and guests are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

Navarro County NAACP will commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a rally/march/oratory contest. The rally will be held at Bunert Park at 10 a.m. Mr. Walter Berringer, assistant principal of Corsicana High School, will be the speaker. Immediately following the rally, the group will march to the M.L.K. Center. The Oratory Contest will being at noon.
