Corsicana — Bruce McManus was honored Friday by the Navarro County Historical Society, naming him Historian of the Year for Navarro County.
The award was presented during the society's annual banquet held at the Kinsloe House.
Society member Bobbie Young saluted McManus for his recent efforts spanning the last three years in getting a slave cemetery uncovered at Richland Chambers Lake relocated to Woodlawn Cemetery in Corsicana, and his recent work in helping Pioneer Village obtain an addition in the form of an historical-period gasoline station.
McManus is a member of both the Historical Society and the Navarro County Historical Commission.
