Corsicana — Navarro Regional Hospital is pleased to announce that Michael Stewart will join their team as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 21, 2014.
Mr. Stewart comes with more than 10 years of health system and hospital management experience. Most recently, Stewart served as Administrator/Chief Operating Officer at Northwest Medical Center -Springdale. At Springdale, he oversaw a $12 million dollar Emergency department expansion, spearheaded successful efforts on the recruitment of numerous physicians as well the successful completion of Chest Pain, Total Joint accreditation and level III Trauma certification processes.
Prior to that, he worked in highly competitive markets and was CEO of Barstow Community Hospital in Barstow, Calif. as well as the Assistant CEO at Watsonville Community Hospital in Watsonville, Calif.
“I am excited about the opportunity to continue adding to the rich legacy of my predecessor and the Navarro Regional team,” said Stewart.
Stewart has Texas roots as a University of Texas-Austin MBA graduate and a Texas A&M University Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering graduate. He also has military experience service as a captain in the United States Air Force.
Stewart replaces Xavier Villarreal, who left the position March 28 to become Chief Operating Officer of Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi.
