Corsicana Daily Sun

Corsicana — • Three African American women who attempted to steal more than $3,000 worth of items from Walmart at 8:45 p.m. Monday were foiled when a police officer saw them loading their ill-gotten gains in a vehicle.

Corsicana Police Officer Neely Baggett was on a routine patrol when she saw the women packing the goods into the vehicle and thought it was suspicious. The women, meanwhile, saw the officer and took off, leaving some of the goods behind. In their haste to escape, the women wrecked out on Kenwood and ran away on foot. All the items were recovered, as was the car, and police are currently trying to locate the thieves.

• Car burglaries were reported sometime over the weekend in the 1300 block of North 45th Street; in the 700 block of Lexington; and the 1100 block of Hidden Hills.
