Corsicana —  Calvary Baptist Church, 308 E. 11th Ave., invites you to join its congregation in celebrating its Pastor and Wife, Leon and Yolanda Tates, in an Appreciation Service. Guest speaker will be Apostle David Ransom of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church of Fairfield, and he will be joined by the all male chorus and Brother Paul Lewis. This service will be 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012. All are welcome.

Dayspring Fellowship, 111 W. Collin, invites you to worship on Sundays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. This church is no longer located at the Taylorosa, but rather downtown on W. Collin. The Word Church welcomes you to come home with us to 2708 W. Eighth Ave.  This is our home location directly behind Okay Children's Center. The entrance is on the west side double doors. Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2105 E. Jones Ave., is celebrating its 100th year. It will hold a Pre-Homecoming Banquet at the Cook Center Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Fabian Jacko of the Greater Golden Gate Church of Dallas is the speaker. Tickets are $15 and are on sale at Ruby’s Hats and Charles Hair Gallery or see any member of Mt. Olive for tickets. Come and enjoy great food and fellowship and hear this dynamic speaker. Hubbard First United Methodist Church is getting ready for its annual Lord’s Acre Festival which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20.  The “Quilters for Christ” ladies are also busy getting last minute items ready for the big day. The “Country Store” will be open from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and will feature many mouth-watering baked goods and other specialty items. Shoppers can enjoy a sandwich lunch as well as preview the beautiful handmade quilts made by the “Quilters for Christ” and other items that will be featured in the Auction that begins at 2 p.m.  Visitors can also tour the “Pumpkin Patch” which is staged on the Methodist Parsonage lawn across the street from the church.  Pumpkins of all sizes and shapes will be available for purchase. It will be open to the public through Oct. 31. At the conclusion of the auction, a turkey and dressing meal with all the trimmings will be served in the Haralson Center. The cost of the meal is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.  Take-out meals will also be available.
