Sugar Rush for a Cure Fundraiser will be held at Ole Foods Store, 100 N. 15th. Join us for our annual Easter Bake Sale! Purchase your Easter dessert from us and help support the fight for Cancer. Also serving sliced beef sandwiches with chips and a drink for only $5. This is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds go to Navarro County Relay for Life, American Cancer Society. American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will hold its 14th Annual Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a coloring contest, and pictures will be donated to Angel Troop Support Corsicana to be sent overseas to the troops. Prizes will be awarded to those who find the most Easter eggs. There will be hot dogs and drinks served. Please come out and watch the children have a great time.

Piecemakers  Quilt  Guild meets at 9:30 a.m. at Westhill Church of Christ.  After a short business meeting a program will be presented by Dr. Donald Locke.  His world famous “The Supper” quilt will be the focus of his presentation. Made of 51,816 one-half-inch pieces of over 350 fabrics, the quilt is 67” high and 183” wide.  Dr. Locke spent two and a half years on this masterpiece. If you’ve never seen Dr. Locke’s quilt, now is your chance.  It will be on display for the public from 1 to 3 p.m. For more info call Jan Libal (903) 874-0831.

Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be at the Corsicana YMCA from 2 to 7 p.m. If you are low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year VITA will see clients with appointments first and then work with walk-ins. VITA is at the YMCA on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at the Kerens Library on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.

    A baseball coach at heart, about a year ago Aaron Tidwell began to seriously focus on education administration. He just didn’t think an opportunity would present itself so soon. Mildred Independent School District board members approved the 31-year-old Corsicana native as the high school’s new principal Monday night.
