Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild
The Piecemakers' Quilt Guild of Corsicana met Monday, June 2, 2014. There were 47 members present. We had a very enjoyable meeting with lots of fellowship and fun. The program was a community project workshop. Club members made really cute travel pillows for area children in need of a hug! Visitors are always welcome. The Thomas Meredith Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII Century, in conjunction with a volunteer committee, will host the program William S. Covington, Jr, “The Continental Soldier of the American Revolution.” Bill currently teaches at Waxahachie Global High School in Waxahachie, and is an adjunct professor of US. European and Texas History at Navarro College-Waxahachie. Uniformed as a Continental soldier in the American Revolution, Bill will display, explain and demonstrate the clothing, arms and equipment with which the common soldier fought the troops of the British Empire. Through this presentation he hopes to bring honor to the men and women who lived, fought, and suffered through the dark days of the Revolution that preceded the birth of our great nation.
