DNA test results released Friday by the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office confirm the body found following a house fire at Francisco Bay Nov. 17 is that of the home’s owner, Wally Palma.
Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner said Friday the DNA report verified “with 99 percent certainty” the identity of the victim.
Tanner said his agency has not closed its investigation in the case, saying the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, nor has a final autopsy report on the cause of Palma’s death been issued by the medical examiner.
Palma’s body was found in the ruins of his Francisco Bay home after an early morning fire last month.
Palma was a manager for Guardian Glass in Corsicana for 27 years before his retirement in 2007. The house was in a subdivision on Richland Chambers Reservoir.
