Taxpayers who need to have their property taxes paid by the end of the year have until Jan. 2 to make those payments, according to Tax Collector/Assessor Russell Hudson.
Because the end of the month falls on a holiday, the tax office can accept payments in person or postmarked by Jan. 2 and still issue a 2013 receipt, Hudson said.
The Navarro County Courthouse will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, making Thursday the last day for tax payments for 2013.
“We’ll be here on the 30th, but if they don’t make it they can either put it in the mail or come by Jan. 2 and still get it in for 2013,” Hudson said.
Property taxes, and mortgages can be claimed on Schedule A forms of federal income taxes.
