— Straightway Missionary Baptist Church at 400 South 15th Street, under the leadership of Pastor A.E. Smith, will celebrate its mission program Sunday at 11 a.m. Devotion by Straightway youth, song by Straightation, and a special dance by the praise dancer of the church. Sis. T. Wade will present the mission statement, and Sis. S. Bradley will give the welcome. The young men of the church will have the opportunity to be crowned Mr. Straighway. Nominees are T. Mcadams, D. Caldwell, A.Anderson, and D. Brown. President Evangelist Kitchen is excited to see the youth department work hard as missionaries. Reese Hicks will serve as the speaker of the hour. Reese is an 8th grade student at St. John’s Episcopal School in Dallas and a graduate of St. Phillips School and Community Center. Reese is an avid lacrosse, baseball and basketball player and is a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  If you are a youth or the parent of a youth or know a youth in Corsicana, you will not want to miss the exciting look at mission work from a teen’s point of view. Operation Mission 2014 - Access Granted is a must hear message for everyone. Reese is the son of Shari Reese Hicks and Duane Hicks Hicks. He is the grandson of Alma Reese and the late Ozell Reese and John and Detria Hicks of Dallas. Come one come all and here this though provoking message, you will not leave the same way that you came.  

Westside Baptist Church will have its 5th Sunday Gospel Singing Celebration at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29. The all-music program will consist of solos, duets, the Westside Quartet and full choir. Featured guest singers will include Vicki Trimble singing ‘Oh Holy Night,” Yvonne Momalove singing “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” and Dan Layne singing “Til the Storm Passes By.” The public is invited to attend the program. Dessert fellowship will immediately follow the service. A nursery will be provided. Westside is located at 1522 North 24th Street in Corsicana. God's Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C, located at 301 East Third Avenue in downtown Corsicana, will recieve the new year in with a gospel musical explosion Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at 4 p.m. featuring God'd Holy Temple Gospel Choir, Praise dance. mime and other guest and friends. Minister of music Eric Grant Jr. & the gospel band. The Holiday Revival will began Monday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m.; guest church and speaker will be Pastor Vincent Bailey of Darty Temple C.O.G.I.C, Malakoff. Tuesday watch meeting night will begin at 9:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Eld. Michael Williams (no service new year). Thursday night at 7p.m. guest speaker will be Pastor Shirley Lucus of New Deliverance Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. Friday night at 7 p.m. guest speaker will be Pastor Ricky Walters Of Lifeline Fellowship Church. Bethel A.M.E. Church is pleased to announce its annual “Family and Friends Day” on Jan. 19, 2014 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be former pastor the Rev. Ray Charles Emanuel of Rice Chapel A.M.E. Bethel A.M.E. Church is pleased to announce the next upcoming event, when the Dennis Johnson Women Missionary Society will observe Women’s Day at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 29. Guest speaker will be First Lady June Greene. Also, the W.M.S. will honor 12 of our senior citizens of the church. They will be “Queen for the Day” and will be escorted by the young people of the church. Honorees are Sis. Katherine Watts, Sis. Willie Mae Fields, Sis. Dolores Carter, Sis. Mable Scott, Sis. The Corsicana District Church Of God In Christ Holy Holiday Revival will be Dec. 29-31 at the Johnson Memorial Church Of God In Christ, located at 1700 South Business 45 at T. A. Northside Baptist Church “Surviving the Holidays” program meets on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Northside Baptist Church Parlor. (Enter the parking lot behind the church in front of the new fellowship hall. Someone will direct you to the Parlor.) The Corsicana Cowboy Church, 5864 W. Hwy. 31 (2 miles west of Walmart) invites everyone to come and join them for Sunday morning Worship Service each week at 10 a.m. The pastor is Derek Rogers. The CCC band will be providing music this Sunday, Dec. 29, as they do every week. On Tuesday night, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m., they will be gathering at the church to ring out the old year and ring in the new. Everyone is more than welcome to come and join them for an informal time of fun and fellowship. Light refreshments will be provided.
