Corsicana — A listing of meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County

Feb. 11

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. For further information, please call 903-872-5072.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade in Corsicana. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting. We welcome any Veteran as an associate member who served honorably.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site open from 2 until 7 p.m. to assist the elderly and low income file their tax returns at the Corsicana YMCA. To schedule an appointment, call 281-682-0928.

Habitat for Humanity's Annual Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 in the upstairs Parish Hall of St. John's Church, located at 101 N. 14th Street in Corsicana. This meeting is open to the public.

Feb. 12

James Blair Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will hold its Special Awards meeting at 3 p.m. at the Kinsloe House. Younger students will be recognized for winning the history messages from their schools. High school seniors will be honored as the Good Citizenship winner from their respective high schools. One senior student will be awarded a scholarship from the Lillian Farrow Hearne scholarship fund. Presenting the award will be Barbara Lewandowski from the Texas State Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

The Kinsloe House Publicity Committee will present a musical program for Valentine’s Day with Virginia Martin titled “Love Songs.” Virginia will honor all of the pianists who have accompanied her in Corsicana: Carolyn Barnes, Vida Byrd,  Mary Gladney, Vicki Trimble, Joy Williamson, Pam Crawford, Pat Haba, Sheila Herod, Sandra Huffman, Annett Reid, Nancy Sloan, and Marjie Talkington. Members must make their reservations or cancellations by noon, Feb. 10, 2014 by calling the Kinsloe House at 903-874-5791 or emailing to thekinsloehouse@yahoo.com.

 

Feb. 13

Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle  will host a AARP Drivers Safety Course 10 a.m. to  2 p.m. in the hospital classrooms. The refresher course is designed for drivers 50 years and older. For reservations and more information, contact Connie Beal at 903-654-6892 or email connie_beal@chs.net.
